giving my nerd art a deeper meaning ?? what ???

So, I have this art teacher. She's really nice, and tends to favour the students who are good at art and don't cause trouble in class. I just so happen to fall into this vague category. A few days ago, at the end of class, my art teacher told me she wanted to bring one of my assignments to a student art display thing across the school board, as long as I could somehow fit it in with some deeper meaning that touches on cultural diversity. Seems cool, right? That's what I thought, but upon thinking about it for more than two seconds after I left the room, I remembered a very important detail... The piece in question is a reference to the FVCKING MAGNUS ARCHIVES. Being a horror anthology nerd is, in my opinion, a pretty important thing to remember when your teacher is talking about your fixation/art lovechild being displayed to a somewhat larger number of people than you're comfortable with. It slipped my mind in the moment (I've been known to be a bit spacey 95% of the time), but since I only remembered this fact after I'd made it halfway to my next class, I didn't get a chance to tell her. I had art class on Friday and had been told to present her with my verdict on Monday. It is now Monday. I am both an insomniac and freaking tf out because I've royally screwed myself over by not being able to take my tiny little mind off of my weird little interests for more than a minute at a time. The piece was made to sort of resemble a Zippo lighter with a spiderweb design (iykyk) that has a large, intricate flame shooting out of it. I've thought about saying something about incense burning, if that even makes any sense, but any meaning I can find still leaves the question of the purpose of the web design on the lighter's body. Should I tell her it's a reference and explain to her the lore of this silly fictional object? Should I pull some bs explanation out my ass to try to defend it? I'm worried that if I tell her, it won't be possible to change her selection and I'll be forced to give it some nonsensical meaning anyway. Please send help.
