Hi hi!!! So, as the title says, ill be explaining/reciting the ENTIRE lore of evangelion(including the movies, all major events, and maybe even theories and philosophies I have about it)!

I will include in the event title if its from the movies, and what movie is it from. :) Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
✿ A long long time ago, before any life on earth even existed, there was a group of godlike aliens called the First ancestral race. They created the seeds of life known as Adam and Lilith. Each of them came with their own eggs, or moon. Adam had a white, a fruit of life seed while Lilith had a black, fruit of knowledge seed. Each egg came with the Spear of Longinus.
The aliens started spreading these eggs throughout all the 9 planets, with only one egg on each. Planets that had Adam had angels(not so many, however) and planets that had Lilith had humans and other life. If you are wondering why there are no humans on other planets, its really the same reason as our universe. Earth is a habitable place for life, while other planets arent. If any creature were to posses both the seed of Adam and Lilith, they would become as powerful as the First ancestral race, so only one seed per planet. However, on Earth, a "Black moon" containing the seed of Lilith accidentally crash-landed in modern day Japan, which caused the First impact.
FIRST IMPACT (before the series)
✿ As I said, first impact was caused by the Black moon that contained the seed of Lilith which accidentally crashed on earth. The black moon(that contained Lilith), would soon become Tokyo-3. As the result of two seeds landing on one planet, the spears of longinus' activated the first ancestral race's contingency plan which deactivated one of the seeds. Liliths seed was destroyed during the landing, so Adam was put into stasis by his own spear, allowing life to exist on earth and for humans to populate. After the first impact, Lilith spread her LCL, which then evolved billions and billions of years(I will not be covering all the revolutions).
✿ The first impact was not covered in the rebuilds, so I(any many others) believe it was the same.
SECOND IMPACT (before the series, though heavily mentioned in the series).
✿ The second impact was caused in 2000. The Katsuragi expedition decided to investigate on the theme of Adam(who was located at the South pole, which was as I know only a red sea.) Investigating on Adam was, as imagined, a terrible idea. Adam was experimented on by Dr. Katsuragi and his crew. Adam was put in contact with a human, a "donor", which turned out to be a terrible idea. There was just about enough of Liliths DNA in humans to trigger the second impact, wiping out half of the earths populartion. Later adam was turned into an Embryo. Also, that contact created Kaworu Nagisa, who held the soul of Adam.
Fast forward three years, Gendo Ikari made Nerv HQ and the evangelions, using Adams DNA for all of them other then Unit-01, which contained Liliths DNA. Seele found the embryo of Adam and kept it for their future plans.
About a year later, Yui ikari does a contant experiment with Eva unit-01, in which she dissolves into LCL and her soul is absorbed by the Evas core. Yui ikari planned to do this, and to eternally exist in the evangelion as a proof of humanities existence. Though, since Gendo Ikari couldnt live without Yui, he attempted to bring her back, which made Rei Ayanami with Liliths and Yuis DNA.
Angels start attacking tokyo-3, because they are trying to reach Lilith, hidden in the Geofront under Nerv HQ. If the angels reached Lilith, or humans came in contact with Adam, it would wipe all humanity, except Angels on earth.
✿ In the rebuilds however, the trigger of the second impact was unknown. It was seen as a flashback. Only the four Adams nicknames the Guardings of the gate were extending their wings of light are shown. In Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 thrice upon a time we learn that a human life was needed to be sacrificed in order to stop the third impact(thats why Kaji sacrificed himself btw).
AFTER THE SECOND IMPACT (in the series)
✿ When Asuka Soryu joins in as a pilot, she is introduced into the series in an episode where Misato brings Shinji and his two friend on a boat. The angel attacks, but why? The angel was trying to reach Adam, which Kaji secretly stole from Seele to give it to Gendo. After that Gendo and Fuyutsuki were able to get Adams spear of longinus. They spear Lilith at the moment before triggering the third impact for convenience. However, when the angel Arael arrives, the spear is used by Rei to take the angel out, due to Asuka being out of comission and Unit 01 not responding to anything. This leaves a crucial part of Seeles plan in space.
- One of Shinjis friends was sent to pilot one of the experimental Evangelion units, unit 03. However, the unit was overtaken by an angel, who Unit 01's autopilot mode defeated, leaving Shinji feeling very guilty and emotionally shut down, numb and (possibly) angry.
After Asukas breakdown, Nerv sends Kaworu to pilot unit 02. Kaworu was secretly the first, 17th AND the last angel at the same time. After befriending and betraying Shinji, Kaworu makes his way to the Geofront, thinking Adam is hidden there. When he realized that it was Lilith, he asked Shinji to k1ll him, saying its the only way to save humanity in that moment. After a long pause, Shinji crushes Kaworu in unit-01's arm.
For the end of the series, there are some theories:
- The event causes shinji to go into some sort of coma, where he accepts himself and overcomes his depression in the last episode ;
- The last episode is the third impact, but told in a different way ;
- The creator of evangelion was just going crazy(lmao. I heard this one on tiktok) ;
- The last two episodes show Shinjis mental state after the third impact.
NEAR THIRD IMPACT (evangelion 2.0)
✿ Near Third impact was unintentionally triggered by Shinji Ikari through the awakening of Unit 01 after trying to save Rei Ayanami, who was trapped in the core of the 10th angel. The source I use says that it was stopped by Kaworu nagisa in the Eva Mark.06 with the spear of Cassius, but I believe that the impact was stopped because Kaji decided to sacrifice himself. The damage caused is unclear.
THIRD IMPACT (The end of evangelion)
✿ After the last angel was destroyed, Seele sends JSFD to take the evangelion units. Asuka wakes up in Unit-02, which was under water, and later on fights the mass producted new/modern evangelion units. There, she lost her life because they couldnt disable her sychronization with the eva, leading her to d3ath(I think she lost her life because of the abnormal amount of pain). Then, after Misato convinces Shinji to get into the eva, he was shocked to see Asuka in such state. With a pair of wings levitating behind him, he witnesses the MP series eating unit-02. He lost his mind, and then the spear of longinus came out of orbit, and fell down infront of him.
Gendo decides to merge Reis body with Adams embryo. He thought that merging Liliths soul with Adams body would bring Yui back, but Rei betrayed him(boo hoo) and merged with Liliths body instead, causing her to become a powerful, godlike being.
The third impact causes everyone to turn into LCL and one being basically. All in one(lol). Rei leaves the decision to continue or reject the intrumentality to Shinji since he treated her like a human being. This would be Shinji’s dream. The flaws in everyone would be gone, and pain and suffering would be a thing of the past. No more hurting. But Shinji realizes even though he will suffer, even though he will feel pain, the relationships he forms will be genuine, he’ll be able to see the people he loves again, and his feeling would be his own feelings. So shinji rejects instrumentality and snaps the spear of Longinus. The MP evas and super-Rei dies.
Shinji knows that people can restore their bodies from the LCL as they imagine themselves in their heart (they have to make the same decision as Shinji to accept or reject instrumentality like Dio rejected his humanity). The children of Lilith were given a second chance.
On shinji strandeling Asuka:
"The reason I did not explain in the video why Shinji strangle Asuka is because it is very much a personal interpretation."
The most "official" explanation is from the Bandai Evangelion Movie Series 2 Trading Card, which says,
"Shinji renounced the world where all hearts had melted into one and accepted each other unconditionally. His desire... to live with 'others' — other hearts that would sometimes reject him, even deny him. That is why the first thing he did after coming to his senses was to place his hands around Asuka's neck. To feel the existence of an 'other'. To confirm (make sure of) rejection and denial."
THE FOURTH IMPACT (Evangelion 2.0)
✿ Fourth Impact is triggered by the awakening of Evangelion 13. This impact was stopped by the piercing of Evangelion 13 by two Spears of Longinus, the death of Kaworu by the DSS Choker and the force ejection of Shinji from the unit by Mari Makinami Illustrious in the Evangelion Unit-08β.
THE ADDITIONAL IMPACT (Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0)
✿ Additional Impact is the sixth and final impact in the rebuild series caused by Gendo Ikari through the use of Evangelion 13, Nebuchadnezzar's Key and the Adams to open the Minus Space and cause instrumentality. Shinji controls this impact using the Spear of Gaius and reforms the world into one without Evangelions.
✶⋆.˚ Anddd that is the lore of evangelion! It is not extremely detailed, but it will work just enough to understand what the flip is happening(since it can be very confusing, a lot of people think that it is indeed confusing to understand by only watching the series).
