:P Hello to like 2 ppl that read these!
If you couldnt tell already, this blog is about Coraline! Coraline (2002) in its original form is a book written by Neil Gaiman. But most people know Coraline as the stop-motion kids movie released in 2009, produced by Laika studios and directed by Henry Selick. NOT tim burton which most ppl still confuse this unfortunately... The movie follows the mc, Coraline, as she and her family move into a house called ´the pink palace´ which they share with their eccentric neighbors. Coraline feels like no-one listens to her and tries to entertain herself on her own terms until the grandson of their renter gives her a doll that looks exactly like her. And this is how her adventure starts. :0 ! She meets the other mother or the beldam and gets trapped in her world of tricks and illusions. And even when she escapes she has to go back in order to save her parents. (˶°ㅁ°) !!
I could go on to explain the plot in more detail but i honestly think it´s better to just watch the movie ;3 also im lazy... :P Now, I´ve already had an obsession with this movie for a very long time. The easter eggs and artistry in the animation are absolutely fucking amazing. The characters, the plot are incredible too and on top of that the soundtrack is fucking beautiful as well. Which btw is composed by Bruno Coulais and the language is all made up! The creativity in the movie blows my mind every time i think about it. There are so many theories on how the ending is supposed to be interpreted, where the beldam really comes from and who the ghosts were :D i could yap about them for hours, especially the one about the well being the original portal to the world and the beldam being the original owner of the pink palace hundreds of years ago! Which is why the cat could travel back to the other world since it wasnt completely destroyed in the end when Coraline accidentally sent the key right back to the beldam. There is also a lot of symbolism in the movie, the most recognizable ones being bugs! (˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
Over the years i´ve only gotten more obsessed... i watch the movie and read the book over and over again. I have a felt hand-made coraline doll that my friend gifted me and last year my bf and i made ourselves as Coraline style dolls for ourselves (i put a photo of them below) after watching the movie 3D in the cinemas! I still want to buy a dragonfly hairclip and i already have a button key key-chain on my keys (that´s too many keys...) AND I AM STILL NOT SATISFIED I NEEEEED MOOREEE!!!!!!!!!! (˶˃ᆺ˂˶)
watching the movie with me has gotten unbearable at this point because of how often i pause it to yap about all the specific easter eggs... but i literally cannot stop myself..... :P
I even invited my class to watch Coraline for my birthday in 3rd grade at the goddamn age of like 8... Which was not a good idea bc unfortunately all of my classmates got scared/started crying and had their parents pick them up TwT. My parents occasionally tell this story to poke fun at me since i was pretty clueless as a kid why this all happened lolz ⋆🐾°
If anyone would like to message me about Coraline I would LOOVVEE to yapp about this absolute masterpiece ( • ̀ω•́ )✧ But this is all i will be typing for now! Hope you enjoyed my blog *i say to like 2 ppl* <3
