Song writing is hard man ughhh

Beena HOT minute since I've been on here. 

Dude, being in band is not for the weak. I'm working on an album and we already have a few established songs that I'm decently proud of but the others I'm working on are just eh. I feel like their either too simplistic or even corny. I know that's how everyone views their writing but the issue is that I'm not owing my lyrics. By that I mean I'm not confident about presenting them or even singing them to myself without cringing. To own them I must be aware that I'm being satirical or even intentionally corny, having confidence in what I'm writing and presenting to both my band mates and fan-friends. 

Production has been difficult too. My drummer lives out of town and can only visit a good handful of days before they have to go back to her town. So currently, it's just been my bassist and I working on everything. I'm covering the drums currently on these demo tracks but I can't help but feel useless on them. I'm really not anything to write home about in them, and I'm planning to eventually take actual lessons cuz that's just how I learn better. Everything else is fine to an extent. I'm actually improving more on my guitar skills, being more confident about soloing. Though I really want to be more familiar about notes and cords, I'm bit of an amateur when it comes to memorizing them. I know I just that I should improve on notes and chords but I'd like to clarify that I'm not a complete idiot to the idea of them. I do write cords and know to play them, it's memorizing that's got me stumped. If you were to ask me where D7mXYZ on the 25th fret I would just panic. 

Regardless, this is a learning experience for me and frankly it isn't the worst. I'm young and still new to being able to have creative freedom in my own band so it's to be expected that I'm not a lyrical/musical genius like my heros.
