So to preface this, I was really into Homestuck from 2014-2016. I used to watch the Voice Over Nexus/Voxus fandub of Homestuck, but their uploads got slower and slower as time went on. Because of this, I fell out of touch with it and never finished the comic (I got to about Act 6 Act 1).
This year, for some otherworldly reason, I decided that I would finally finish the comic after seeing a few YouTube video essays across my recommended. I went the tried and true route of watching the Voxus dub again. They're all the way up to Act 6 Act 5 Act 1!!! And the team has done a fantastic job, I can't wait to see them finish the thing.
So I did that, and finally read the remaining pages of Homestuck the way Hussie intended. And MAN.... Homestuck is officially the best piece of media that I won't recommend to literally anyone. The characters were so well written (for the most part), and the ending felt justified/deserved.
I've recently started reading the epilogues. After learning that they're supposed to be "bad fanfiction" of Homestuck post-ending, I was a lot more open to reading them. AND THEYRE NOT BAD?????? I definitely understand people's complaints about the mischaracterization of some characters (Specifically Jane), but I really think the directions that the characters are being taken in are also justified.
I've heard that Homestuck: Beyond Canon sucks for the first part, but is slowly getting better upon completing their first Act. I'm excited to see where the series goes, and I think I'm definitely gonna keep reading.
