Hi friends!! first ever actual in depth blog but this incredibly interests me so bear with me..
First off, I wanna start this out by defining what makes Spacehey the platform it is today. Spacehey is essentially a Myspace dupe, offering HTML customizable profiles, forums, groups, and an IM feature to contact friends! Now knowing that Spacehey is a duplicate of old Myspace back when it was still active, we need to know the essentials of Myspace too.
Myspace was created in 2003 by Tom Anderson, and what set this website apart from others was the fully customizable profiles, and a heavy influence to pop culture today. If you visited the website even just in 2008, you'd see featured bands, songs, videos and other junk on the homepage. Myspaces influence on the internet was a pretty heavy deal, a whole subculture emerged from it even (scene!)
Now that ive explained this, I hope you can understand where im going now. I'd like to raise a question to everyone; What is Spacehey Lacking?
Now, I love this site dearly. I have many friends on here that I love chatting with, but the site (in my opinion) really just advertises itself as a Myspace duplicate. This is why I think that Spacehey can become a better social network.
Back in the 2000s, Myspace owned Myspace Music, a platform in Myspace for users to share music. This is part of the success that Myspace had. I know a fair share of users on Spacehey have encountered bands on here, and in my opinion, I think that these bands deserve a platform to grow. I think these people have genuine talent and I want nothing more than success for them. Even Owl City rose to fame just from their Myspace profile.
I also believe that Spacehey lacks a lot of essential features that may deter users. Forums and blogs cant hold user interest for a long time if we're serious, and even as i already mentioned what Myspace had to offer in the 2000s, those held user interest for a LONG time. There were sections for Music, Videos, Games, Hell, ive even seen a section for jobs!!! I understand that a lot of people are here for Myspace nostalgia, and I know a lot of people want to see this site rise to fame like i want it too. Myspace was a network of EVERYTHING. That is where Spacehey lacks. Spacehey has an upwards of about 2M Users, but how many of those are active in the past year? I think adding a lot of the features that Myspace had back in the day, including (and one of the most importantly!) Myspace Music and Myspace Records would create heavy and extensive media engagement. I want to see these Spacehey bands and other group accounts rise to success, and Id love for this site to come to popularity and see people share it irl instead of floating around on the internet. I think adding some of these features would also bring in more site donors to keep Spacehey up and running.
Also, Honorable mention, but Myspaces involvement with pop culture opened up the local alternative scene all around the world. I wont go into this farther than a few sentences, but i think bringing back these features will bring back the alternative scene in daily life somewhat lol..
I know i did a lot of rambling and my words are kind of jumbled so ill rewrite this later in the future LOL but please let me know what you think and what you suggest!!

id also love for them to add an easier way to upload pics, maybe something similar to Tumblr or something as its really a pain in the ass as of now.
i agree! a photo gallery would be really nice but they dont have the necessary funds to upgrade their systems so its gonna take a lot of donations and time before that happens :( I'd like to encourage a lot of people to donate too since it costs money to even keep the site online
