how do you start a band

i really wanna be a singer in a band but literally how do i tell anyone that without sounding super full of myself. i dont think im a necessarily good singer, singing is just my favorite thing to do and id love to do it with a purpose. i just feel super stupid and like people might think im self-centered for saying i wanna be the frontman of a band.. help.
