Hello, reader.
This entry may seem like it’s delayed, and that’s because it is. I don’t want to keep too strict of a minimum-once-a-week schedule, because I know I won’t always be able or willing to stick to it. But this one was still supposed to be written like, five days ago, and that may or may not be evident in the level of detail and accuracy. I don’t know though, I just started writing it. Unfortunately, PMS hits extra hard when you’re already depressed, so I’ve had to wait a few days to get through another horrible patch. But anyways, we’re finally here now, so let’s get into the content part of this. Oh also, I will be adding randomised strings for locations as well, because I want to mention specific details to my future self without doxxing myself.
I went to go see ‘A Minecraft Movie’ with some of my friends last Friday (25th April). Originally it was <aBvA5Qri> and three of his other friends planning it, but I tagged in and one of them dropped out. So the final gang was me, <aBvA5Qri> (whom as you may know I’m already close with), <2dJ6W2EQ>, and <dsgt950c> (students in grades lower than us, whom I know and they know me, but we’re not that close friends). Quite literally the *four tickets to the Minecraft Movie please* meme. We booked a cab at 11 AM from <Jl7NA> (where the other three live) to <NXr68> mall and we were off :)
We got there pretty early, with like 45 minutes to spare (I don’t remember exactly but we did waste a decent amount of it by just standing and yapping so does it matter) and browsed some shops in the mall. I low-key don’t remember all of them lmao, but the most notable one was <s2YSZ> bookstore. I found a sex book 👍. (Nah but seriously, I think sex education and discussion about it in my country are way behind where they should be. The book is called The Toilet Seat and has since been added to my readlist.) We also browsed other cool books and stationary, and me and <aBvA5Qri> found that one nostalgic toy from our childhood – the one filled with liquid and with rings that you have to press buttons to get onto hooks – if you know you know. At some point I dragged the guys into <8htJg> (decor and furniture shop), but iconically, I don’t remember whether this was before or after the movie.
Speaking of which, let’s get to the main event. Movie was great, popcorn was great, and being there with friends was great. The theatre was nearly empty though, so there wasn’t really anyone screaming at Chicken Jockey or the Technoblade cameo. I know that people recognised him though, cause I heard a kid mention it later, but as I said – no one screamed and nothing crazy happened. I think <X3w69MW3> was right about the ‘brainrot crowd’ having dissipated. Me and the gang were still laughing though, so we chilling ✨. And I loved the movie itself so much! Like yeah, from an artistic perspective it’s not very clever or well written. But the comedy delivers so well, the acting is top tier, the memes are iconic, and most important of all: it had soul. It could have been something formulated only to bring in profit and for the sake of making an adaptation, but I really felt like the creators put their heart into it. Like obviously I’m not going to deny the money aspect; it’s literally Minecraft, the most popular game in the world, so there is definitely money to be made. But simultaneously they didn’t hold back from getting silly with it, and as a result made something genuinely entertaining. And that’s not even considering how culturally significant it is, that such a huge game community is finally getting its movie adaptation.
Additionally, I love what they did with the goofy ahh new lore ( ), especially the implications of the Enderman scene. And I think the reason that the Minecraft movie lore doesn’t really clash with the game lore is because it’s a sandbox – it’s literally whatever you want, so the lore can be (and I think is) multiple storylines at once. I also have a personal theory here, that the movie lore takes place before the game lore. Several explanations here: one is that there’s a lot of crafting recipes in the movie that aren’t in game, kind of like how there’s a lot of in game items that can’t be crafted (but they’re clearly manmade, eg. the saddle or shipwrecks). Another is that Steve doesn’t technically exist in game – you could argue that he does exist because you play as him, but also you play as yourself, so maybe he doesn’t.
And to close off the movie segment, I would like to mention how everyone else left the theatre when the credits started rolling, but the four of us stayed back because apparently Alex was in the post-credit scene, and I couldn’t miss a chance to see my beloved the woman /j(?). I kind of wish she was in the main movie though lol, would have been an interesting dynamic to explore. Through the movie I was sitting next to <dsgt950c> so we could share the popcorn, but for the credits we moved to the front and <aBvA5Qri> sat next to me. He said to me, “long time no see,” or something like that, and I don’t know why exactly I’m putting this in the entry but it’s a cool detail I guess. The staff had turned the lights back on when the main bit of the movie ended, but after one of us confirmed that there is a post-credit scene, they turned them back off for us lol. And yeah, there is a scene with Alex, but her face is literally not shown and I’m back to yearning.
Uhh random stuff speed fire round(??): I wore an oversized Minecraft shirt that my sister had got me a few years ago; we forgot to take selfies then later asked the guard if we could quickly go back in to take one in front of the poster and they allowed us; said asking the guard involved me paying <aBvA5Qri> ₹100 to go talk to her cause we’re all social re[dacted]; comfort belt chain; the theatre seating was asymmetrical(???); the movie audio was at a softer volume than usual, which is good for my autistic ahh but I can see why it may be an issue for others.
We then got the Minecraft Movie Happy Meals for lunch at McDonalds; <2dJ6W2EQ> and <dsgt950c> took the fancy shiny cards, and me and <aBvA5Qri> took the boxes home (I didn’t want the cards but he lost the odd-or-eve game, rest in pieces). We then went to KFC cause McDonalds is tbh kinda bad. KFC tasted better, but I had basically a consistent record of getting food foisoning from it, so I tried not to eat too much. We browsed a couple more shops after that, including MINISO and the bookstore again, and then booked a cab back to <Jl7NA>, and it was around 5 PM by then.
We hung out in one of the <Jl7NA> parks until like 6:30, and that was honestly really nice. I love the how much trees and grass there is over there. We did a bunch of stuff that I could go into detail about – but like it’s a park, mostly talking and doing park/playground stuff, so just fill in the gaps yourself. Plus <2dJ6W2EQ> showed us that bottle trick where you can launch the lid off. We also talked about really scary country news, and that was scary. I really don’t want to talk about that, so look it up or something idk. Anyways yeah, the other two went home and <aBvA5Qri> dropped me off to my house after the park time.
I wanted to talk about another friend’s birthday party here, but this entry is getting really long, and I’ve been writing for nearly 90 minutes so I too am getting really tired. So I’m going to end this here. By the way, I did not get food foisoning from the KFC. Thank you for reading, and I wish you the best on the rest of your journey.
P.S. There’s a few messages I haven’t responded to, and if you’re reading this just like gimme a few days bruh I’m tired 😭
