^ one of the neat images i found
google has a neat feature where you're able to sort for file types, dates, 'related' websites and more by inserting specific parameters into your search request.
in specific, there is a 'before' parameter. this is an example of how it might be used

this gives me 'awesome backgrounds' created before july 1st.
it is that simple. these don't look like much but if you get creative/look for what people would've looked for back then, you can find some cool gems
here is some i found:
FlyingSkeletonHell.jpg, created by
Nevit Dilmn and uploaded to wikimedia commons in 2006
going to the file history, we find a list of renders created with the bryce 3d rendering program. a favorite of mine is this one, created by Nevit Dilman and uploaded to wikimedia commons in 30 December 2006. this image is used in the chinese wikipedia page for vaporwave
diverting away from awesome 3d renders, here's a link to fighting game backgrounds.. without the fighters? turns out, games like street fighter have very pretty pixel art backgrounds. a redditor named 'rudebootie' (account now deleted) compiled these into one big imgur gallery
https://imgur.com/a/fighting-gifs-GPlx4
(not linking them all because there's about 110)
these are some simplistic little 3d images that belong to a website that's still active! http://www.wireless-earth.de/oldstuff/raytrace_eng.html
while looking for cool images, i stumbled across his software named arcsoft funhouse. i found a version of it for free on internet archive, downloaded it, got it working via bottles and looked through the images. i found this gem
best part is that the software lets you paste your face over their images. here's my pfp over the face
okay, that's it
if you find any cool images with this method please share in the comments or in my messages or in a friend request or etc idk how spacehey works
