OK OK! I watched Thunderbolts* (i love marvel) i really liked it. I think is objectively good!
Some Spoilers:
Warning: Mental health and S* ideation
Bad English ahead!
You have all this characters in terrible emotional situations. They are all stuck in a bad point of their life. Where they just are doing the same bad routine over and over again. All of them have only solved their problems by punching and shooting. So they are against a threat were they can't do that. They need to confront how they themselves feel and help Bob go through his emotions. They all meet in a similar situation and understand how each other may feel. So despite how much they wish to not make connections or like each other, the scenario forces them to.
Yelena is doing awful, Nat is death, her dad didn't reach out for a year (for his own low view of himself) she does the same things that make her feel worse and worse each day. But she does want to help others truly. She meets Bob, calling to the void. and tries to empathize even if she had the wrong view of 'the void' herself. Her and RedG talking shows she wants people around her, she wants her life to get better.
Alexei is doing bad, he is not on his prime as a super soldier/hero. He wants to be back to that. He didn't reach out for Yelena cause he felt like he was bad as a dad/person. "im gonna make it worse for her" but she actually just wanted her dad. Besides how funny he is, I sob at that scene of them talking. It felt real.
J Walker is omg. He did well... what he did. And that still affects them, not only what he did but how everyone looked at him after that. During the start of the movie he is convinced he is just that. He doubles down on his bad actions and reacts aggressively to everyone. But he wants to be in the right so bad, he still hurts others around him because of it. But he does feel empathy for everyone and Bob. Confronting his issues in order to save NYC, his new group, and Bob. He isn't just a jerk or a 'bad version' of Cap.
Ava is stuck doing the things she is told, she "SPOILER" kills taskmaster no second though. But then as she progresses she looks back upon the person that she killed and how that could be just her. A person that lived a hard life that's gonna get killed like that one day too. She seamlessly disappears to "maybe" leave everyone by themselves, but she doesn't she comebacks and helps everyone. With her power she legit could've leave and not dealt with all of that. Becoming part of a team also gives her a bigger personal propose, people to connect with (or at least i think so).
Bucky is in the exact scenario you expect him to be act after everything we seen from him. (i don't talk about em much cause the rest of the characters are the ones getting BRAND NEW content from not much so im focusing on that)
BOB........ dude. Yes, he is a person openly suffering of deep mental health problems and depression. I love how they showed how much that can show it self in conversation. Him saying "no it's okay don't worry, it doesn't matter if i die" Showing: 1. I don't wanna be a weight. 2. I don't really want to live. 3. i don't care to express that out loud. Then he gets into a position of getting 'control' over his superpowers, feeling like a god that shouldn't take orders. Connected also to his "i have days when i feel invincible and says i feel like i can't do anything (paraphrasing)" so directed to bipolar or bpd experiences too. When he becomes void, that's that part of his mind taking over.
AND the end! the best part of having all this characters ignoring their real personal emotional problems that are eating them- that only do their violent one note job to not think about it- NOW have to confront the issue with emotions. Bob can't beat Void by without help, him beating him up- means repressing the issue. That's not how you win against depression. You need a system of support, help, people who want to be your friends and help you. It's a long process not something you can punch and kill. ALL this characters need to understand that and decide to help Bob thru the literal power of friendship. AND IT WAS GOOD. if they solved the issue through a fight, that would've the exact way all this characters avoid their own emotional issues.
I haven't seen the talk of S* ideation, and depression be so grounded (for a marvel mov in a while really) even if they never say the word. The first scene (even tho is a mission, and Yelena has a parachute) is her jumping of a building. When Walker gets that vision of himself, then he stares down the dark tunnel (into the void). The entire resolutions is a bunch of people saving someone from the edge, cause they understand that feeling too and want to save him.
OH and De Fontaine? she was great I hate her guts omg that last thing was so scummy holy- that's how you write a woman who is a terrible fake person.
If i was during one of my downs watching this i would've cried HARD hard.
I just wish it was a little longer, to get scenes of all the characters inside the void rooms. -even if they had to be shorter. it would've added to all of them.
But if you are the type of person that values movies by explosions and no emotional plot line- this is not your movie. duh.

YES!! i also wished we could see everyone's void visions!! however, I realized that we already can assume the other characters most traumatic moments. I think itz best they leave it up to interpretation, itz more unsettling
Yes! im sure Ava would've been the moments she got her powers, Red g in prison etc.
