This is based on how much I like them rather than how well written they are. Gene would be right up there as a good antagonist who isn't a full on villain. Also I'm on series 2 of A2A
1 Annie. There's a reason Sam dreams of her. She's a caring person who thinks deeply. From a writing perspective/feminist she's also literally a man's dream woman which is why she's so perfect but this is a list of who I like most as a person.
2 Shaz. Romani representation from 2006 that doesn't fit stereotypes! She's also basically the Annie of A2A
3 Chris. The boy version of Shaz. Struggling to be a modern man in a bigoted world. Learns and listens to Shaz. If I had to have a bf from A2A I'd pick him (sorry Shaz! I'm bi and Shaz would also be my choice of gf from A2A but Annie overall!)
4 Sam. He wakes up in 1970s pretty convinced he's in a coma and still tries to fix things!
5 Alex. Way more relatable and selfish. She doesn't try to fix the 1980s nearly as much. She trues to get home while breaking a few rules along the way!
6 Gene. Like I said best written. He's also a bigot and a thug. Thankfully he's funny, gets results and kicks up as well as down (he's blunt about the minor royals and the masons).
7 Ray. Seriously we did not need an unfunny, stupid version of Gene who openly says anti-Romani shit about Shaz. Gene's the bigoted attitudes of the era already. Ray amplifies that and also lacks wit and smarts. I hate him tbh.
