first ever blog, but I wanted to talk about something.

So, one day I was talking to my dad about my cousin (who has diagnosed adhd.) because I had seen him recently or wtvr, and I mentioned my cousin having that mental condition/disorder to for reference to how he was behaving, and my dad cut me off and said something along the lines of: "he doesn't have adhd, he's just a little... r3t@rded.", and it pissed me off so bad. He went on to tell me that 'all this adhd and autism stuff doesn't exist'. He basically said that it's not real and it's a scam to get our money, because back in his olden country days there were no people with adhd and autism. Oh, but get this! He believes in depression, bipolar syndrome, and ocd.. having had used to apply those to himself and frequently talk about them and how those mental conditions affected him and how he acted. In my eyes... depression, ocd, and autism (rough example) are all KIND OF the same, yes, they are different.. by a lot sometimes, but they're all mental disorders/conditions, are they not? So why do certain diagnoses exist but others are just to get money? I hope I didn't offend anyone with this post, I'm just very annoyed and I thought I'd maybe share.
