i like EDM! what the FUCK is a Skrillex?

among all the ear-and-guitar-shredding joys of death and avant-garde metal, i do, infact, enjoy EDM. before i say anything, i listen to a MULTITUDE of different genres, and with the resurgence in popularity in Breakcore, i completely acknowledge it has several gained misconceptions as a genre.

let me just say that i'm hardly the genre nerd i used to be, so i'm straight-up not going to mention the genre Breakcore unless i'm talking about Venetian Snares (THE GOATTTTT.) or artists that i for sure KNOW are simply just. Breakcore

why am i being so specific about this?

BECAUSE PEOPLE ACTUALLY GET PISSED OVER THE MISLABELING OF GENRES. AND FRANKLY. I DON'T BLAME THEM AT ALL
but i personally do Not want to get caught in that crossfire. so instead i'll probably bring up ones like gabber, terrorcore, ectect....

but yes. back to the topic. when i tell people i like EDM (because when i say 'breakcore' i either risk an argument /hj or i get asked if i like Sewerslvt.) they often wince in disgust. "oh you like that dubstep shit don't u?" "ohh it's really overstimulating for me" "you mean you like. what Skrillex???" the Skrillex comments used to come up often tbh, and honestly, it's probably because of where i live. i don't assume anyone in the godforsaken south knows what electronic music is besides basic techno and dubstep, if anything at all... but now, mostly people just tell me it's overstimulating, and i understand. the point of a lot of the music i like is that it has to usually be loud, fast, and ... downtuned, if not some nightcore sounding shit. (at the same time though if it's SUPER high pitched i actually Can't bear to listen to it without my ears bleeding profusely)

no hate to dubstep, basic techno, Skrillex, or anything i showed distaste to just now. i just really fucking like loud and fast edm. Uranoid was my first introduction to anything higher than 400 BPM, and while i don't touch on extratone a whole lot, it's kinda nice sometimes when it's more melodic. that being said, i fucking love edm with 400-800 BPM. honestly, just 160-250+ works too, but i REALLY really can't get over how good it all sounds. if you can't tell, speedcore is an absolute favorite, but funnily enough, hyperpop, breakcore, and jungle (YES actual breakcore and jungle. at least i think so. don't hurt me) were my introduction to these harsher bits of EDM.

BEFORE YOU CLICK OFF. i don't listen to as much hyperpop as i do speedcore/breakcore/idfk fast and obnoxious shit, but i come back to it at times for a bit of a 'blast to the past.' i found hyperpop directly from tiktok (yes i used to have tiktok, with how unfortunate that is).

to actually name some names, i really do like terrorcore, raggacore, hardcore, gabber, uptempo, dungeonsynth, some jumpstyle, some dancecore, vaporwave, electro-swing, and likely more that i can't remember rn. [1/2]
