Media I've Consumed: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4 (First Time Finishing)

With the announcement of the anime adaptation of Steel Ball Run a few of my friends and I decided to watch Jojo's together to get ready for it. We started at part four as I never ended up finishing it my first time watching it. This is less and indictment of part four and more an indictment of my inability to actually finish shows. But now that I have finished it, what do I think? Also, if you have no idea what Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is this is going to sound like the ravings of a madman. I'm sorry I really do not feel like explaining what a Stand is.

Quick Plot Summary

Josuke Higashikata is a normal Japanese sixteen year old with a stand fast enough to heal someone who was instantaneously blown into bits while keeping them alive. His life takes a turn however when he meets Jotaro Kujo, a marine biologist, his nephew, and a man who often forgets he can stop time with his stand. Josuke, Jotaro, Koichi who is the same height as a literal eleven year old child, and Okayasu whose main personality trait is being stupid as well as several other characters I don't feel like listing get involved in various hijinks in this Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town, while experiencing some Great Days, before that all gets interrupted and they have to Chase a serial killer who has gone uncaught for fifteen years, despite the fact that he takes the disembodied hands of the women he kills out in public spaces like sandwich shops.

Do I Like This Show?

I think my snark in the plot synopsis along with me not finishing the show my first time watching might give off the impression that I wasn't a huge fan of this show. But that is not true, Part Four is an absolute blast. The setting of the small Japanese City of Morioh is a welcome change of pace from Part Three's globetrotting adventure. Other than a few episodes where the enemy stand didn't grab me (The Transmission Tower Stand) the episodes are all fun. It's just also an incredibly fun part to riff on with your friends while watching it in discord together.

List of Things We Riffed on

Jotaro never bothering to use his ability to stop time after Egypt. (He's a better man than I I'd definitely have used that to get extra time on exams)
Joseph Joestar just forgetting or not bothering to keep practicing Hamon the thing that he is literally told makes you not age and immediately decaying into a geriatric old man.
Saying "But can it beat 20 Meter Emerald Splash" whenever an enemies stand is revealed.
Bringing Joseph to Morioh so he can find the stand user of Red Hot Chili Peppers with the Hermit Purple's Spirit Photograph, something they think he can definitely do despite knowing nothing about the stand user and then never trying to use it to track down Kira Yoshikage.
Jotaro being more badly wounded by a rat with a stand than by Dio in part three.
All the times Jotaro just forgets he can stop time.
Jotaro, Koichi, and Rohan all missing 90% of the final battle because they are too distracted by light conversation and rain to hear all the screaming and explosions happening like, one block away.
The insane speed feats of Crazy Diamond.

There's lots more but yeah we had a rip roaring good time watching part four. Also, I will reiterate all of this was done out of love for Part Four. It is a good watch, it's just also fun to point out a lot of the stupid stuff with friends. I don't really believe in doing numbered scores but yeah go watch Jojo Part 4, as well as the previous three parts they're all a good time too except for maybe part one which is kind of boring. If I ever end up rewatching them I'll probably make post here, I just don't want to do it now because I'm trying to focus on media I'm consuming currently and not something I'd be relying on memories from multiple years ago.

Next post will probably either be Turn A Gundam, or the Gundam 0079 rewatch I'm doing currently to show it to my cousin.
