After finishing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, I jumped from game to game trying to fill the void it left. Played comfort games I always go back to, but they didn’t help much. Oblivion remaster released and I was going to play it again, since the last time was over a decade ago, but I decided to wait a few months for good mods. My games backlog is pretty long, but I didn’t feel like starting any of them. Then Expedition 33 released and I gave it a try. I can’t believe how good it is. It hooked me from the start. The story is gripping and deep. The characters are well written and relatable. Gameplay’s solid, I enjoy turn based combat and the parry system feels rewarding. I’m playing with graphics maxed out and it looks stunning. The soundtrack is great and adds a lot to the game. My favorite character so far is Lune, not just because she’s gorgeous but because of how she acts and decides. "When one falls, we continue." She’ll probably be like Tifa, people liking her for looks, but she’s a real character you connect with. I can’t say much to avoid spoilers. I’m on Act 2, exploring new places. I’m trying to do side activities first, but the story’s so good I want to push forward. I’m sure the ending will wreck me like Rebirth did. Totally worth it. We continue.
