20 weeks of paramore - week 8 - misguided ghosts

“‘cause i’m just one of those ghosts, traveling endlessly…” 

welcome to week 8! and sorry it’s so late. this week’s song is misguided ghosts, the penultimate song of the brand new eyes album. to be honest, it’s my favorite acoustic song from them.

the instrumental of this reminds me of a very windy day. staying inside, listening to it whistle between the branches of trees, and the rustling of leaves. as the clouds cover the sun, your room is drenched in cold light from the windows. it feels like it should be getting dark again soon, but it doesn’t. not quite yet. it’s strangely relaxing, to be stuck in time like this. (i used to listen to the karaoke version of it on repeat for hours, actually.)

the lyrics, i used to relate to a lot. where one is no longer suits them, but who are they exactly? it’s hard for them to know. only going through the motions, they feel like a ghost. so. it is time to go, and explore.

wherever they will go, something will open up behind them. even if it is in a circle. it will be paved over again and again, until they notice. what looks the same? what looks different? and what does it mean to them?

i think everyone is misguided from time to time. surely, one cannot have all the answers at once. and that’s okay. one day, the path will become clear. one day, there will be someone.
