skype is DYING

A little while ago, some people discovered a hidden message deep inside Skype's internal localization strings, saying that Skype will shut down in May of this year. Those same people also found image assets picturing an icon of Teams next to an icon of Skype.

Later on, Microsoft officially announced that Skype is sunsetting. Even later, we now know that Skype is going to self-destruct in May 5th, just a few weeks from now during the time of writing.

Me personally, I have used Skype a lot. I with my family have used Skype for chatting in a family groupchat. In fact, that Skype account is STILL active! I remember we stopped using Skype a few years later though, I still have no idea why. Probably because it was getting less popular? From that moment on, I had a thought at the back of my head, "it would b so kool if i used skype in da futur wen i grow up....". Unfortunately, this wish isn't coming true. I mean, if it wasn't for Escargot's news!

Believe it or not, Escargot is actually making a Skype revive for their own users. It will probably take a long time, because the Skype protocol is kind of hard to get around. But imagine me chatting on Escargot Skype!

For me, Skype is like the millenials' MSN (or WLM if like it more that way). It's an untouchable relic of the past, something that everything and everyone (including Microshart over there ahead of the Atlantic Ocean) wants you to forget, but you can't forget. It's like someone you love die right in front of your eyes.

However, I think this is wrong. Killing off Skype in such an era, even when it's useless, it's just like doing an unspeakable atrocity for all those who used Skype in the past, or even those who use Skype as I'm writing to chat with friends or family, or even possibly a community.

I invite you to my GradientOS Skype groupchat. Now, I would have inserted a link to an invitation, but only problem is, every single Skype invitation has turned into a Teams ad, where you can only join in Teams.

As I've already mentioned before, this all just the MSN drama all over again, except with a different platform. I bet in the future Teams will die too, and I wonder what would happen to those people all the way from MSN? They had to move to Skype, to Teams, and then when Teams shuts down, where next, Microsoft?

This is a yet another showcasing of the terrible times we are living in. Lameplit has gotten to point where I could see it shutting down. Yet no, instead a lovely platform has to now! Like goddamn, what is Skype different from Teams? It's exactly the same! Like why did they make an offbrand preinstalled Zoom for their own likings? What went wrong with Skype? Why did the coincidences go that bad, that Skype is the one who's suffering, why not make Teams suffer? If I had two platforms where you can chat, me personally I'm shutting off my younger platform, I don't care it's more professional than some silly billy wrapper around a private messaging protocol based off of MSNP ("msnp24" shows up A BUNCH in the Skype requests), Skype is still cool!

But no matter how much I rant, Microsoft will shut down Skype anyways, it's almost as if this whole blog post is UTTERLY USELESS.
