i rewatched y tu mama tambien

listening to frank zappa's watermelon in easter hay bc it played in the credits of this movie while writing this review (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`)

I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH ARGHHH its the perfect summer movie ^_^ especially after graduating high school and not knowing wtf to do with your life

this is def  the type of movie to rewatch over and over again as u get older and notice new stuff every time u watch

idk i love how tenoch and julio have their whole future ahead of them while luisa knows she only has very little time left, but they both still live their lives (or atleast enjoy their summer) to the fullest (；′⌒`) it's like theyre all trying to cling to what little youth they have left, some having more than others

also love the little tension caused by the class differences of tenoch and julio ^_^ really captures how it feels to be a middle/lower class person friends with a rich kid LOL

even tho the film takes place in 90s mexico it's pretty similar to how it feels to be a teenager in the philippines rn lmao ☠ trying your best to survive school and still enjoy your youth while the country falls apart around you and youre not sure why youre putting so much effort working hard for a future that youre not sure youll be around to have!

but with all that cynical doomerism stuff said this film still inspires me to enjoy my last summer of youth to the fullest and appreciate the beauty of this country, even though its leaders are trying to ruin it ^_^
