It is very hard for me to explain how i feel about this book. I will start with what i like: The setting is very interesting, cant say ive read many books about 1960s america. and uhm.... thats kinda it for the postives
I came in to this book expecting a lot. Ive heard stories about it, how its a must read, a real classic and that ill always regret not reading it sooner. That didnt happen. Instead i experienced one of the most confusing, unnecessarily bloody and edgy books that i have ever read.
The story is just really wierd, things just kinda happen not really with a lot of reason behind them. Things are explained on the fly all the times, things that should be shown or atleast mentioned in the beginning are just dropped in random parts of the book making it very hard to understand everything. There are some nice moments but they get overshadowed by the confusion i was experiencing while reading the book.
If the book was just a little bit longer and things wouldnt go so fast, letting the writer explain everything that is needed to enjoy the story the book would be much better.
It may have been that i missunderstood the book, maybe read it with a wrong mindset, but after seeing it praised so much i dont think its my fault.
