Fingers Crossed That SpaceHey Beats Facebook

I loved MySpace back in the day, and I really had no intentions to leave it until everyone flocked over to Facebook in 2007. Then I abandoned my MySpace account and joined the club. I joined Facebook, and the novelty of it was great when I could reconnect with old friends and classmates (and finally have the chance to tell off my bullies, only to find myself blocked by them as they still took no responsibility for what they did).

Anyhoo, by the time 2008 rolled around, Facebook was the network to use as it was cleaner than MySpace and less spammy at the time. My MySpace account was collecting more and more dust as time went by. By 2010, I had forgotten about MySpace.

Even though Facebook went through so many changes over the years, none of them were significant enough to make me consider going anywhere else. Sure, I have a Twitter and Instagram account, but I barely use them.

Facebook started going downhill in 2016, and I am not going even to mention why that is; however, it took more of a nosedive last year. I struggle with depression as it is, and Facebook was not helping it. Especially while doing my best to cope with the pandemic situation. All I have seen on Facebook is so much hate, dangerous misinformation spreading around, and other garbage.

What really made me bitter about Facebook is that I was sent to Facebook jail twice for making innocent comments. Once was for 24-hours, and the second time was for 3-days. If I do it again, then I may look at a month. I see that this is becoming a common problem for Facebook users, which is going to cause the network to lose users, which I believe it already has.

When I learned about HeySpace a few weeks ago and looked at it, it was like a breath of fresh air. I have to say I do miss MySpace, and I am glad to see a reincarnation of it. This network is new, and there is a lot more work to do with it, but I know Rome was not built in a day. I really would love to see SpaceHey beating Facebook at some point in the not too distant future.

I cannot leave Facebook officially anytime soon because I have a business page and some groups. But I will be using it a lot less otherwise. I am rooting for HeySpace because I see big potential here. I hope it stays clean as that is always a concern, and that can be not easy to control if it grows substantially because Facebook failed pretty badly with that.
