People should be more passionate about their interest. I've seen a trend of people trying play off or be nonchalant about them. They get into things "ironically" or "just as a joke". I think you should do the opposite of that. Your interest should matter to you and should be taken seriously. Effort should be put into expanding on that passion, not just half assed.
A lot of people aren't I guess the word would be true fans? I can't think of another way to put it, but people don't dig deeper into shit hardcore. I'm not saying there's stuff wrong with being a casual but your interest shouldn't end in watching a youtube video and partially reading a wiki. I think this also can causes a lack of diversity in opinion within communities. People take from the same limited pools of information instead of branching out, causing stagnation and repetition of views. Although that's can be a whole different ramble from me.
I've seen some people attack others for being passionate and branching out. Calling them nerds or saying it's never that deep. Example from the top of my head would be chainsaw man fans. One of the latest chapters had a extra with Yoru being drawn in a Uncle Sam outfit. Some where reading into it as Yoru is the war devil and it probably being a criticism of war culture in America. A lot of people countered it with something along the lines of "it's not that deep".
To me it is that deep, no matter how truly insignificant it is. Nothing actually matters but you treat like it does. You should show care into things you are into. They should absolutely matter to you.

It is that deep
