I'm working my way through the Drew Carey Show for reasons that aren't worth explaining, and I swear, in every episode, there's some "famous" guest star who was either (a) not actually famous, or (b) was famous back in the '60s or '70s but was washed-up by the time these episodes aired. Like, please tell me what hit songs Little Richard had in 1997. The most extreme example was probably Stacy's Mom. Yes, they had some chick show up whose career high point, the thing that has been seen by the most people, the thing where the most people will know what the fuck you're talking about if you mention it to them, was playing Stacy's Mom in the music video for the song of the same name. But she did that in 2003. What the fuck would anyone have known her from in the '90s? Apparently she was Rod Stewart's wife and had been in one of HIS music videos back in '91, and was also in a series of ice cream commercials that nobody outside of New Zealand saw because the brand didn't exist outside of New Zealand. And yes, the Drew Carey Show is set in Cleveland, which kind of rhymes with Zealand, but I assure you that they are very far away. I'm getting really tired of looking all these people up on wikipedia.
