Once upon a time two philosophers saw one another in the daylight. Diogenes, who was tending to his garden, saw Aristippus passing by on his way to the king's court. Offended by Aristippus's lack of discipline, Diogenes spoke out at Aristippus and said "had you learned to make these your diet, you would not have to pay court to kings to eat well." Aristippus shot back saying, "And if you had learned to associate well, you would not be washing vegetables."
