Rollercoaster obsession

I went to an amusement park some time ago. In hindsight, I should've known better, since I am terminally obsessed with trains and rollercoasters are basically the more insane version of trains but... I am now abnormal about rollercoasters. I've spent more time on wikipedia and coasterpedia these past few weeks than I have sleeping. This is all I do. I can name every launch type, major company and other traits of every one of my favourite coasters. Eat, sleep, coaster, repeat.

Here is a list of some things I enjoy about rollercoasters:

1. The feeling of weightlessness, like you are flying or dropping from a height. Which you are in a way, I suppose? It's as if every burden is lifted from your shoulders and you can only exhale heavily.

2. The click-click-click when going up a lifthill. Knowing this machine was built by someone. Knowing it's whirring and locking at each step. There is intent and science behind its design, and someone cares so so so much about it. Engineering marvel.

3. Pushing against the restraints and feeling them push back. They dont give, they hold you so securely.

4. The shouts of the people around me. I can't bring myself to really scream on a coaster (maybe it's my asthma?) so instead I listen to the other parkgoers. Sometimes they were having conversations, other times they were cursing themselves out, but for the most part people were just screeching or laughing in a mix of joy and fear.

5. The wobble in your knees when you come down.

6. The way people kick their feet when waiting to depart.

7. The relief at each inversion.

8. Knocking shoulders with your neighbour when the coaster rattles.

9. The shapes and colors.

Feel free to share what you enjoy about coasters below, or just name anything you yourself enjoy. Doesn't have to be coaster themed :)

Thanks!! Honestly this website sometimes feels like screaming into the void, so it's easier to feel vulnerable and be earnest lol
