Static Dress (KEEP YOUR FUCKING HANDS TO YOURSELF)

Let's start this off on a good note. Last night I saw Static Dress live for the first time. I got there super early and made sure I had a good spot to watch the show. The openers were pretty nice and I really enjoyed more of the shoegaze style openers. When static dress came on I was so hyped. They play so good live and they just sound amazing. The visuals for their shows are also insane. I love how they keep everything diy and really stick to the underground. It's refreshing to see when so many bands don't do that anymore. The set was great, I got dived on a ton so now my body is killing me. My hearing is also gone because I took out my earplugs just for them. For the most part it was an amazing show. I asked a crew member for the setlist and he gave it to me!! So then I waited a while for Olli to sign it which was super cool. He's a really down to earth and genuine person.

Unfortunately, this show had a major drawback. A bit further into the set, Someone had grabbed Olli, and not just by the arm either. This person was being a freak about it, trying to inappropriately touch him. Olli shoved them off pretty quick. He looked pretty freaked out by what had just happened. He finished out the song and called this person out. Saying there was no room at shows for creeps. Threatening to end the show if it happened again. After this incident the show continued on as normal, but it still didn't feel right.

In my opinion, Olli should have been more upset. He had every right to walk off and leave, but he didn't. I think that goes to show that he really cares and wants to keep going. It just shocks me that mid show, in front of everyone, someone had the guts to grab him like that. It definitely wasn't an accident either. You shouldn't even be going near there. Olli shouldn't have to tell people not to touch him inappropriately. As he said, there is no place in the scene for that. Ever. If you are going to be a fucking creep, then get the fuck out. I wouldn't be upset if he cut the show short like he threatened. People like that don't deserve the time, energy, and work put into these things. Static Dress goes above and beyond to give us new things, to go beyond the music, to give people a good time, and this is what they get in return. It's sad to watch an artist, who is there to preform for others, doing what they love, pull away from someone so quickly with a look of disgust on their face. I don't get how you could do that to anyone, let alone someone who has been nothing but kind and welcoming.

As someone who was in the front row, very close to the stage, I kept my fucking hands to myself, something they teach you as a kid. Something that should be common knowledge. Don't put your hands on people like that. Don't be the asshole to ruin it for everyone else. I feel awful for Olli because he just looked so upset, especially after the show. Be kind to artists, they are people too. Respect people's boundaries, and never be scared to point out creepy behavior.

It was still a fantastic show, one of the best I've been to in a while. If you're looking for new music, check out static dress, they'll blow you away. Overall it was sweet getting to experience my favorite songs live and it was sweet getting to see the band and talk. Another great show to remember forever. <3
