More Impulse # 3

Jacob was feeling some sort of way as he was watching the action unfold. Imagine finding out you have powers and then you break one of your arms while your trying to save people. Yeah, that was him and he was watching Masaccio a cross the street and it looked like another creature had shown up. What else was going to happen today? He was homeless and he didn’t have anyone to stay with. Maybe he could lie his way into a shelter of some sort. Living was hard and he could see the turtle walking his way. He wondered what that other creature wanted.

Jacob sighed. “I wonder what that other guy wants.” He squinted his eyes as he looked at both of them. He noticed Masaccio had stopped. What was he doing? There was a lot of traffic between him and Masaccio so it wasn’t like he could run and see what was up. He had a bad feeling about this and he really hated having feelings like this. It just seemed like everything was going to hell lately. He walked around on the sidewalk a bit. He was looking for a place to cross the street at and he couldn’t find it.

Jacob growled. “What the fuck.” Jacob was now standing in front of a 7-11. You know the places were you can buy slurpees – it was good shit. He wasn’t in the mood to think about sugary frozen drinks. He wasn’t worried about the turtle, he knew that being could take care of himself. He just worried about the other people in the area. He heard something start to growl and it wasn’t happy. It was time to run again. He looked and saw an alley way next to the 7-11 and he ran and ducked into it. He found himself standing under an fire escape ladder, it went to the top of one of the buildings. He thought he might climb it. Not right now, he didn’t like hiding. Again, he felt useless and there wasn’t anything he could do right now and he really hoped that none of those creatures showed up again any time soon. He could also hear police sirens and ambulance sirens. He really hoped that no one was hurt. He had that voice in his head that was telling him he should of done something.

The voice sounded like his father – he fucking hated that man. He did wonder what his family was doing right now. He put his hand on one of the rungs of the fire escape and climbed up a few steps and sat down. A part of him wished someone would come and rescue him, take him away from all of this bullshit. He just stared at the walls of the alley way and he could hear creatures moving around in the same alleyway. Probably a stray cat, that is what he felt like. A stray cat.

Xander still thought all of this was still unfair, he could help the people of the city. It wasn’t like he was some baby, but to the people here – he was. He grunted, he was laying on his bed with both of his hands folded behind his head and he was just staring at the ceiling. Maybe this was some sort of test, maybe they wanted him to break out. It wouldn’t had been the first time someone has tricked him like that before. That girl he was talking to in the hallway, she was kinda cute though. Maybe he would stay just to get to know here, heh, yeah, sounds like a great idea.

Xander continued to stare at the ceiling, this time he looked like he had a few things on his mind. “So why are we really here? What is the director planning?” He honestly thought there was more to this, like they were ramping everyone up for something special. Maybe they were really here to form some super hero team or something. He didn’t know and it really sounded like it was crazy. He never really thought he would find himself in a place like this. His stomach began to growl. He wondered when they would feed him. They had to feed him, right?

Maybe he would try and sneak into the kitchen and it wasn’t like they were locked in their rooms. There were just cameras everywhere. Honestly, that made it feel more like a prison than a place to learn how to use their powers. He still thinks they were forming some sort of super hero team to protect the world. That’d be cool though. Maybe his life would finally mean something. He sighed and shook his head as he sat up in his bed, he was sitting on the edge of the bed and then he finally stood up and walked over to the door.

He opened the door and walked out into the hallway. There were rooms on both sides of the hallways. This was the male dorm area, the female dorms were a little further down the hall. He had only meet one of the girls that went here. It didn’t matter. He walked down the hallway, passed the female dorm area and then turned and walked down another hallway. When he got to the end of the hallway he saw a pair of giant silver doors, they swung open and he assumed that is where the kitchen was.

He pushed his way through the swinging doors and walked into the room. He was right, it was a kitchen and he looked around for a moment or two and then noticed a giant silver metal fridge and he opened it up and took out a few things and made a sandwich for himself and grabbed a cola out of the fridge and chugged it like an alcoholic chugs a beer. This was a bit too easy, he knew he was being watched. He saw a camera and he gave it a peace sign.

He took a few more bites out of his sandwich. “You think I wouldn’t notice ya, huh?” It was a rhetorical question.

Amira had been sitting on the edge of her bed thinking about Xander. Why was he so eager to fight? What did he have to prove? He didn’t know how the male’s mind worked. Maybe it was just away to prove that he was strong and could save people. That had to be it. She thought he would make a decent friend, maybe she should try to sneak away and go hang out with him. That’d be impossible though, all of the cameras that were placed around the facility. That wouldn’t help at all. She sighed and dug out her cell phone from her pocket and began to go through it.

She knew how dangerous the world had become and like everyone that was here, she wanted to be a hero and protect people from the evilness of the world. How was she going to do that? It seems like they won’t let anyone do anything in this place. Only time will tell and she wasn’t a very patient person. Yet, she needed to be and she knew that. She thought about her family and her friends back home a lot. She knew they wouldn’t understand what she had become. She had hidden the fact that she had powers from them and she knew that was eventually going to bite her in the ass. Everything bite her in the ass usually. She looked at the television in the corner of her room, maybe she should turn it on. No, it’d be useless and all it would show would be the destruction that is going on outside and there would be no way that she could help the people out there. She was a healer. That is what she did. She wanted to reach out to her family and tell them the truth.

She felt like she couldn’t. She had lied to them when she had left. She had told them that she was moving to new york to goto school and at the time it wasn’t really a lie. She had came out to new york to go to school, but things happened and she got recruited to whatever this place was. Right now she felt like she was over her head. It didn’t matter right now though, if she could learn how to really use her powers, she could help a lot of people and that is what she really wanted to do.

She pushed her phone back into her pants and then just looked at the television. “I wonder what that boy is doing.” She didn’t really know why she was thinking about that boy. She has never liked a boy before, well, she wasn’t really sure if she liked Xander or not. It just seemed like that boy was very intent in breaking out of this place and fighting those monsters out there. She knew of the monsters, the other mutants in this facility were talking. Talking is dangerous, talking made her want to help the hurt people that were out there. Maybe thats what the higher ups wanted them to do. Break out and help the people. She wasn’t the type to break the rules though. She was very conflicted right now.
