I wanna learn guitar so bad but I can't afford an electric right now (my fav genres use electric) so I always end up borrowing the classical ones my classmates bring to school for practice just to try playing the riff from symphony of destruction for a few minutes until they take it back, maybe to at least use the little chances I get to train my fingers for now, y'know. And I've been thinking, since classicals and acoustics are wayyy cheaper, should I really just buy an acoustic and wait longer to save up for an electric? That stuff costs way more for me cause of where I live so Idk man. I'm both impatient for an electric specifically and impatient for a guitar in general and don't know what to do, so any advice is welcome. Although I have been told by a few people to start with acoustic so maybe I should've just listened to them earlier instead of waiting so long? But still, there's the question of choosing either nylon or steel so yeah. I suppose I could stand starting with steel since I've ruined my fingertips anyway and am already used to the stinging from tiny lil torn parts of my skin touching stuff. Sorry if I sound like I already have the answer in front of me and am being oblivious to it lmao, I just think additional insight would help a lot.

Should I start with electric or acoustic first (and what string acoustic)

Starting with an acoustic makes an electric feel like butter. I've only had an acoustic, but I play electric songs on it and it sounds just fine. When you pick up an electric, it'll be like going from a musket to a semi-automatic rifle.

judging from ur profile(BTW I LOVE MEGADETH!!!!!!) you seem to be into metal, so maybe you should buy an electric guitar. imo it doesnt matter what guitar you start on. although starting on an acoustic guitar the strings are usually further away from the board so you get more finger action and it will be easier to play on an electric later on, but starting with an acoustic is not necessary, a lot of my friends who are good guitar players started on the electric. you can find some beginner bundles and such for reasonable prices on a website called thomann, i think they ship to a handful of countries, thats where ive gotten both my classical and electric guitar from. GOOD LUCK!!
Wowie, they do ship here and what they have seems pretty promising overall, tysm!!! As for megadeth, that shit keeps my will to live and breathe intact, one of the best bands I've ever stumbled upon in my life man

my friend recently got a great deal online for electric guitar + amp (set for beginners and if u love rock/metal more ig) so if you dig more u might find a good offer?? depends where u are from. ik this might not be helpful but hey
Dw, it is helpful. Do you know specifically where online they found it, and maybe the seller? Like, the site or something. I'm assuming your friend was satisfied with the quality and it wasn't damaged if it was shipped.

Aw, they don't ship here :( still thank you cause at least now I know I can worry less about damage from shipping if I find smth good n trustworthy online, my classmates always (understandably) panic when their guitars get near any object so I was worried abt what could happen on a long ass road but Ig if so many people in the reviews are happy with what they get it's not that bad of a risk lmao
