Perilous Journey

🪺🌷🪷🌹✝️🪻🌻🌼⛰️

I shall cling to the cross,

And let it bear me,

Through the valley of the shadow of death,

To light of heaven's victory. 

Heavy though is the burden,

Of my mind and earthly toil,

I shall tread ever onward,

'Til I leave mortal soil. 

Having forsooth my sinful bonds,

And giving over all,

Clinging to the robe of Christ,

I shall endure, and not fall. 

Pain in my heart,

This heavy burden,

Dark forces assail me,

But I am not forgotten. 

Lamp in my hand,

Thy word made flesh and blood,

The empty tomb at break of dawn,

My sturdy raft amidst the flood. 

I know not the day,

Nor your ordained hour,

Simply trod I on hand in hand,

And trust in your divine power. 

When my body is broken,

And laid into the earth,

My soul shall depart and wing to thee,

And I shall embrace the Father in mirth.
