my thought on BEASTARS

i recently finished an anime called BEASTARS and let me tell you, that is a GOOD anime regardless of the characters (i mean them being anthropomorphic animals)

it is still an on going series because they will release a part 2 of the final season, so i will only express my opinion on the general view of the anime and maybe, on another blog, i will talk about the anime as a whole once it is finished!

although many people may find the anime weird because of their characters, i think that the author, Paru Itagaki, did a very great job at exploring the concept of a society composed of animals with a "human conscience" and a sense of morality, but still keeping their animal instincts, knowing without ever learning that carnivores devour herbivores, how their society deals with incidents that occurs between them and the villainization of carnivores, although that they are also beings with a sense of morality... even though not all of them are good. it also explores the way herbivores deals with this strength difference, such as (TW: SPOILERS) Haru, the dwarf rabbit, who turned to intercourse with other species because she felt like it was the only way she could be equal to another animal. furthermore, it does a good job with how carnivores deals with their bestiality. the confusion, the guilt, aspects that give the characters a great development and makes them so much likable. the whole view on "hybrids species" being seen and treated as "anomalies" and "freaks" because of interspecies marriage being seen as a bad thing, them being a "freak of nature" because of their blood, is also a great touch

it is a work that mirrors tragedies of our real society such as and especially as discrimination. extremely realistic on how their society work and their characters, and i think this is what makes this series so good

thank you for reading my rant :]

Yesssss totally agree with ya. beastars is a great manga/anime that explores some cool philosophical? topics, but i don't mention it much anywhere because people would see me as a furry who watches some animal hentai. also i think that its not only about society. the topic of growing up is quite noticeable through legoshi's character development (but i miss his "edgy teen with youth maximalism" era tbh) !SPOILERS! And i like that antagonists aren't cartoonishly evil and some of them even become Legoshi's buddies later on. I haven't finished manga yet, but its good as hell

YES!!! people criticize beastars so much for it being a "furry anime" but its has so much DEPTH. they really don't know what they are losing. although i mostly talked about how the anime mirrors society, i also agree that it has different topics such as growing up. legoshi's development is truly something beautiful to see with his "philosophy" changing with each encounter he has. it really is some of the best animes i have ever watched and i am excited for the new episodes! i might start to read the manga too :d
