Strictly Personal - Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band review

Honestly might be one of the most psychedelic albums I've ever listened to, idk if that makes sense but this one is wack. It's not as batshit insane as TMR but it's still very weird. Kandy Korn sounds like a really really early version of post rock and honestly it fucking slaps, I don't really see people giving it the attention it deserves but it's a really good track. From what I know Captain Beefheart and a bunch of other people absolutely hate this album because of its production. Beefheart said it was cos of the producer fucking with the mix but his bandmates said it was cos of him, which considering his history, I'm inclined to believe they're right. Personally I think the production is great, I think the sheer amounts of reverb really fit this album well and there's a cool part in Beatle Bones where the drum track is played backwards. Honestly this is just a very overlooked and consistent album that deserves way more attention.
