My Dream - April 20th, 2025

I don't remember my dream completely, as it has been about 30 minutes since I woke up and in that time I showered. I'll still talk about the parts I do remember.

At some point, I was driving past a shopping mall that was a combination of two malls I live near. I've dreamed about this mall before years ago, and was sad to see that even in the dream world how malls are suffering. A lot of the stores were closed now. I saw an advertisement for Disney taking over malls "with stores everywhere and over 2,000 stories!" I felt pretty upset about that, but given, I dislike Disney as a whole.

At some point we're driving past the book store in this mall, and due to dream logic I'm now walking through it. I see a wall of Funko Pops (gross) and see they have a bunch of new Hatsune Miku Funko Pops. I felt pretty upset to see Miku merch at such a low level.

After that, I'm driving through the mall parking lot again until I see a specific McDonald's that was in this mall. 

(The McDonald's by my local shopping mall used to be very special. One of those themed ones. It's been redone to be one of they grey sh*tboxes that are everywhere now. Click the link to see pictures of it. In my dream it's part of the mall itself and looks a bit different.)

I see that it has also closed, but remembered a location on the other side of this dream mall. I go to check and see it's still there, but even more gross than before.

The location is a motel/chapel based on 1980s Nintendo Entertainment System video games, something like those stereotypical Las Vegas places where you pay to get married on the spot, but as an NES motel. The dream changed to be a "where are they now" type television show talking about the man who used to run the weddings at this place, showing that to marry people they'd stand in front of an old TV that had a pixelated priest on it talking. It then showed some mistakes they made like going off on a rant in the middle of reading off vows and stuff like that. "But as a big fan of radio and stage plays, he managed to find other work" the dream narrator said. It showed the old VA working on a big play production.

The dream then shifted to me being in a Toys 'R' Us that was near that mall. I was just there walking around with some friends. (This Toys 'R' Us has been closed for many years IRL.) We didn't do much there, eventually leaving. I think I bought some M&M's candy.

Next it was daytime and I was at a Wal-Mart. My partner and I were walking around until we ran into someone from our college club who I'll just call our "shadow president". Then all of us were in an area full of blankets and backpacks. My partner and I were trying to find new sheets, and he wanted a new backpack. Every choice he picked I'd voice my opinion on, which was mostly negative. I realized this issue and and apologizes. Then another friend of mine was there, who doesn't go to college with us. Suddenly, my club's treasurer was there. He wanted video games and we said to go buy some, he said not like that and told us he would store his stuff there. We were very confused until he pulled a large blue container out from under one of the shelves. He opened it and all there was were a few pieces of folded paper, some wires, and a few video game items. He had a Switch 2 and a 3DS in there, and wanted the 3DS. So we gathered the few games there were and I found a weird dream version of the NES controller that has a bunch of random buttons.

After that we walked out of the store. I don't remember anything else from this dream.
