Journal Entry #125: Oh Wait It's April - 04/19/25

Yeah, so it's been a while...again lol

Also today's my sister's birthday!

I went and saw the Minecraft movie with a friend on opening night. To be honest, it's a great movie...only if you don't take it seriously. That same weekend, I went and helped with an alumni event which ended up being the student org's largest event in its history. The following week I attended some award ceremonies (though the org didn't win anything, unfortunately) and attended an alumni dinner. I also completed an interview and slacked off on my work this past weekend lol

So the big news for now is that I now have a job! I got my acceptance letter on Monday, but I wasn't prepared for the amount of paperwork and things I would need to do prior to working. All of it's done now, for the most part. For those wondering what the job is, it's relatively menial as I will be entering data and testing it to ensure proper standards are being held. I'm both excited and nervous for my first day, which is this Monday. I will be working 15.5 hours a week, for $15/hr biweekly, meaning I'll get $225.5 every week. I'm a little nervous about doing a good job since I'm starting work at the end of the semester which is when things can get pretty stressful. The good thing is that this job will allow for me to stay in this college town over the summer, rather than return home.

Academics are doing okay. I received an email on Friday that gave me a heart attack as I thought I was being asked to drop a course. The course mentioned is important for my degree and the email was simply a notification reminding those of the minimum passing grade. Phew. One of my other classes experienced technical difficulties this week. Hopefully they can be fixed as its getting in the way of instruction. For once, it looks like I'll be able to make it out with no Cs! However, I am not pleased with my finals week schedule. I have 8 am finals on MFW, and no finals on TR. Unbelievable lol. Oh, and one last thing, classes end not this Wednesday, but next Wednesday, allowing for Thursday and Friday to be used for studying, which is pretty cool.

I've been slacking when it comes to completing work for the student org I work for. The deadline to request certain funds for materials has passed, but thankfully I was able to work something out last minute. I also screwed up a team meeting this week. Hopefully I can recover, redirect, and ensure that my team has a solid plan for the summer as we all go our separate ways.

As for personal matters, I'm going to see if I can bake a carrot cake for Easter tomorrow. I have all the ingredients. Also, I never realized that so many students leave for Easter! The reason I don't leave is because it's too much work (gas and money, really) and the fact that I'll be home in a few weeks (in this case, 3). My room is currently a terrible mess and I am in the process of trying to do a hard reset before I head off to my first job ever. Also, ZZZ's new patch is going to release on Wednesday, and for once, I want to pull for both characters featured in the patch. What sold me on Vivian was really her story, though I will say her thrusters are super cool. Hopefully I can still pull Hugo, too, as my goal (for now) has been to pull every single male character. 

Lastly, a little bit about today. My day started at 2 am due to the fire alarm going off. Strangely enough, I saw my old roommate who had clearly been enjoying a party. It was so surreal, but likely only due to the fact that I was half awake, considering that my apartment is literally downtown. After exiting the building and reentering safely, I slept in. Mid-morning I wished my sister happy birthday. This afternoon I went to Publix, but I didn't go to the one I wanted lol. I'll make sure that I put in the directions right next time.
