Hiii!
I wanna make this post so gyaru gets spread more and to help baby gals :3
Basics
Gyaru was born around the 1970 but got popular around the 1990 and early 2000, back then they tanned themselves, dyed their hair and did a lot of parapara (a dance style). They were often seen as rebellious to the Japanese beauty standards, even tho gals js enjoyed themselves freely.
The word „gyaru“ came from the English word „girl“ but since Japanese people found it hard to pronounce they created the word „gal“ whitch spoken out sounds like „gyaru“.
Subculture (lifestyle)
Back in 1970s- probably 2010s, gals often went shopping and/or to the karaoke after school, they also went underage partying (dont do that).Gyarus also had loud and bold personalities which most Japanese ppl found rlly rebellious, they also got into trouble in school bc back then and now, the age category kogal had their blouse not fully buttoned up, they rolled up their skirts, wore loose socks and cardigans. Older gals wore often skirts, tops and big shoes (not every gyaru).
Important
Im not gonna go deep into the substyles because its rlly time consuming to write, but im gonna give y‘all a link to what i think names most (not all because theres a lot)
Link: https://gyaru-109.fandom.com/wiki/Beginner%27s_Guide/Sub-Styles
And please remember its okay to make mistakes!
And which i find rlly important to know is that „gyaru core“ „tropical gyaru“ doesnt exist and that it shouldn’t even be considered because what the ppl mean who use it mean yamanba/manba or just gyaru pics, but gyaru is NOT a pinterest wallpaper aesthetic please remember this! :3
Also the sentence „gyaru girl“ might kinda sound correct in English but completely translated it would mean „girl girl“ which is not correct.
So now that that’s clear hopefully, it is okay to not find a fitting substyle, you can combine and/or just put a lot of effort in your outfits. Also for my baby gals who say „i cant have nails or dye my hair“ thats no problem, just try putting more effort in your hair styling and outfits, doesnt mean if u have dyed hair and nails that u can js not put effort in everything else.
Also this is extremely important, even tho everyone can be gyaru no matter what, if u cant wear makeup u cant be gal, since that is a rlly big part of the subculture:(
last words
Message me if u have questions! And hope you have a great day:D (also im very sorry if there is any misinformation in this:( )

Bye baby gals, gals and readers! :3
