stinky’s sigma studying tips

“How are you maintaining straight A’s?”

“Gyatt damn you must study your arse off!”

“Wow, you’re so smart…” HAHAHA! News flash babe, I ain’t. In fact I’m anything but smart. One might even say I have a brain the size of a flea. Which if they did they’d be wrong as I’m human and I may be stupid but I’m not stupid enough to not be able to differentiate the difference between a flea’s brain and a human’s. But the purpose of this blog is not to list an extensive collection of arguments about how flea and human brains are different, no, in this blog you will learn some of my top tips for studying. yayyy!!

Tip 1: Put da phone away 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🙊 (Eliminate distractions to LOCK IN)

PING! Nah no way my best friend who I conveniently have a lowkey massive crush on just texted me!! This is CRAZY!! But I’m studying right now so she’ll have to wait for later…right? PING! WAAAAHHHH NI-KI IS LIVE ON WEVERSE?? Okay, studying can wait, let me watch this… And then somehow you end up doomscrolling for 7 hours + and you never finish studying. BUT THIS NEVER WOULDV’E HAPPENED IF YOU JUST PUT DA PHONE AWAYYYYY 🥶🥶🥶🥶🤙🤙🤙‼️‼️ I personally can’t even leave my phone in my room on silent mode because the fact that it’s there, just tempting me, making me wonder, ‘What sorts of notifications am I receiving?’, is enough to make me pick it up and lose concentration. So I leave my phone downstairs in the kitchen to eliminate distractions and help me lock in. Whatever it may be that is making you lose focus, GET RID OF IT POOKIE I SWEAR MY PHONE TO ME IS LIKE MY FRIEND’S CRUSTY EX WHO JUST WOULDN’T STOP BOTHERING HER LIKE GIRL G’BYE I DONT WANNA SEE YO ASS NO MORE 😭💔💔Anyways point is, eliminating distractions is a key role is being able to lock in and stay focused for a study session 👌

Tip 2: Many hours VS Quality Studying

I love it that when people see my marks, they automatically think I must’ve pulled all nighters and that I study for an unholy amount of hours each day. While it’s true that I study at nighttime (for me my brain is most active and I retain the most information at nighttime, pick a time to study which suits you most <33) I definitely DO NOT spend 69 hours studying for a math test worth 0.5% of my grade. I spend max 2 hours a day studying during my school’s exam block; sometimes barely an hour, and I still manage to get in the 90’s. “BUT HOW???” you may ask. Well, if you read the subtitle of this tip you’d see the phrase, “Many hours VS Quality Studying”. See, I don’t study for that long, but in the time I do study, it’s not wasted on studying using crap methods or me procrastinating by watching Lee Know thirst traps. It’s good, quality studying, where for the whole amount of time I spend studying, I lock in, and push my brain to its fullest. If we compare this to a student who is studying for an incredible amount of hours, but puts little effort into those hours, they wouldn’t perform as well as a student who is to study for not as many hours, but studies well and utilises their times wisely. However I do have to say, there are some people who are able to study for many hours (and study effectively). I have much respect for these people but keep in mind this practice could lead to early academic burnout (trust me I’ve seen it in classmates). To summarise this tip, it’s better to study effectively for minimal hours rather than study lazily for many hours. 😸

Tip 3: SO WTF DOES STUDY EFFECTIVELY MEAN??

STUDY EFFECTIVELY THIS, STUDY EFFECTIVELY THAT, GURL WHAT 😭😭⁉️⁉️ When I say ‘study effectively’ I mean study using a method that works for you. “YEAH BUT HOW DO I KNOW WHAT METHOD WORKS??” Well, you just have to play around with methods and see which work. Different subjects require different methods. For example, in mathematics, the best method for me is doing practice questions from multiple sources and completing past papers. Math for me is my worst subject as it’s not memorising a ton of facts (which I’m good at). In science however, I just read out my notes and pretend I’m teaching them to a class. I then rewrite my notes as it’s been scientifically proven that writing notes helps better with memory retention rather than typing notes. I call this teaching-like method the “PREACH POOKIE ‼️‼️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥” method. And if you’re wondering how I write notes I just write down whatever is on the whiteboard or whatever the teacher tells us to write down in class 😔💔 (I don’t have that university student level note taking skillset). The PREACH POOKIE ‼️‼️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥 method is my personal favourite; paired with the Pomodoro method it’s elite, and works with every subject except math (I love using this method especially for any content heavy subjects that require a lot of memorising). “OKAY BUT HOW DO YOU REMEMBER STUFF??” To be really honest with you, I’m not really sure. I highlight key phrases and just start reciting the content. Then when I need to call on specific information, I think of the key word/phrase and the rest of the information comes flowing after it. I don’t know how this works, my brain just does it. But if you have a terrible memory like my mother I would suggest reciting keywords, or creating silly, goofy connections between facts and stuff you are interested in. For example, you could get a picture of Bangchan and label his massive bomboclat with the different muscles (if that’s what you had to memorise). Look idk, that was a weird example BUT YOU GET THE POINT. Find a method that works for you and no matter how unconventional it may seem, as long as it works that’s what matters most.

Alright I think that’s it 🫶 I really hope these tips help ya’ll!! ☺️☺️ If I managed to help you in any way, shape or form or you think I’m super sigma and want to add me on SpaceHey (please do I’m so bored it’s school hols at the time I’m writing this), then leave a comment and some kudos too.

LOVE YA’LL 😘😘😘
