[Scene: Jamie Oliver’s kitchen. The five-year-old, Max, is standing at the counter, holding a picture of chicken nuggets.]
Max: [Excitedly] “Jamie! Can you make me chicken nuggets? The crunchy ones! The ones from the store?”
Jamie: [Turning around sharply, with an irritated expression] “What? You want that? You want to eat that rubbish? The stuff that’s full of junk and preservatives? Are you serious, Max?”
Max: [Frowning, looking confused] “But I like them... I want the crunchy ones... Please?”
Jamie: [Getting visibly angry, throwing his hands up in frustration] “Oh, come on! You can’t be serious! You want to eat that processed garbage? I’m not feeding you that crap, alright? It’s disgusting! You want to be healthy or not?”
Max: [Pouting, starting to tear up] “But I just want the nuggets... the crunchy ones. Please, Jamie?”
Jamie: [Shakes his head, voice harsh] “You know what, Max? This is exactly what’s wrong with kids these days! All they want is the easy, unhealthy stuff. You don’t understand how bad that stuff is for you. It’s full of garbage that will make you sick one day, and yet all you care about is some stupid crunchy nuggets.”
Max: [Eyes welling up with tears, starting to get really upset] “But I just wanted chicken nuggets...”
Jamie: [Leaning in, looking down at Max with a stern, almost condescending expression] “Well, guess what? Tough luck. You don’t get everything you want, especially when it’s crap like that. You think food should be all about taste and convenience? It’s about what’s good for you, not what you feel like eating right now.”
Max: [Sobbing quietly, confused and hurt] “But I just wanted nuggets... I didn’t mean to make you angry...”
Jamie: [Sighing, rolling his eyes] “It’s not about making me angry, Max. It’s about making smart choices. You’re not going to get anywhere eating this garbage, so don’t even ask again. I’m not making you junk, and I don’t want to hear any more about it.”
Max: [Crying now, backing away] “I didn’t know... I just wanted chicken nuggets...”
Jamie: [Ignoring Max’s tears, turning back to his work, his tone sharp and dismissive] “Well, now you know. You don’t get to choose junk every time you’re hungry. If you want to eat something, it better be proper food, not that rubbish.”
Max: [Turning around and running out of the kitchen, still crying]
Jamie: [Watching him leave, shaking his head] “Honestly, kids these days... No wonder they’re all eating crap.”
