hello all spaceheyians! ive been on spacehey for 3 years now, so i think its safe to say im a spacehey veteran in some sense.
ive seen this websites ups and downs from the front row - to blooming activity, to waves of question profiles with disturbing profiles pictures im glad havent come back. i've been through it on this website and almost everything that spacehey is and has to offer in its entirely. front row and centre.
but in recent time of my return, ive seen a decline in activity and regular users on this app. less blog posts, less users and less bulletins being posted. at spacehey's peak i remember having a new bulletin appear every 5 minutes. But now, (with over 600 friends) it seems that bulletins are being posted every few hours - opposed to the regularity it once had.
it seems that negative views of the site after the multitude of 'incedents' have spread making people hesitant to join the website. and with most people abandoning their accounts and the website all together for good: the ratio of active users is outweighted by the inactive amount of accounts that now exist on this website.
however - i dont believe that this is the end of spacehey completly and utterly. as spacehey has members joining everyday, the website and community needs something to rope them into staying for the long term instead of something they see on tiktok and forget about.
spacehey is an amazing website which brings people together and archives the feeling of the 2000s. with a completely customisable profile and blogs/bulletins without forced minimalism: spacehey is something we shouldn't let try out and go to waste. its uniqueness is unmatched now in the 2020s.
if u also feel the same way, comment under this blog post so people now that you are an active user and also want to save spacehey! so other members can easily find you to add, and that sense of community that this website had can return.

It's so sad seeing Spacehey like this :'( I loved commenting on my friends' bulletins and blogs

This site has changed the game for me, it reminds me of how the internet should be. Today I basically only use SpaceHey, sometimes Instagram just to see some memes. Period. It has cured the vicious cycle of brain rot that I found myself in.
Besides the fact that here there is no algorithm pushing biased content, or advertising for Chinese products or half-naked childish women selling OnlyFans.
Here there is inner peace ;)
Although I don't expect big updates here (Myspace at the time wasn't much more than that) I am really "worried" about SpaceHey dying for good, technically speaking, shutting down.
Today all we would have left is NeoCities, but that is not a social network per se.
Does anyone know of a side project similar to SpaceHey?

It seems like An has abandoned the project. He admitted it was just a college assignment, and there haven't been any feature updates in months. The moderation is a mess, and the community has steadily declined over time. One of the moderators I speak with says An is essentially absent. Major moderation decisions are left to the moderators themselves, which often leads to conflict since none of them have clear authority over the others.
It's sad to see SpaceHey die like this, but I can't say I'm surprised.
