the immense chore of having fun

have i talked about what a chore it is to like anything these days? i should talk about how much of a chore it is to like anything these days.

like, i refrain from interacting with big fandoms (no matter how much i like them) because everyone seems to be following an Unspoken Set of Rules that only comes natural to them, unspoken rules of which will earn you actual threats of violence if you break.

i remember the one time i ever got an insane amount of hate sent to my inbox (oops, i forgot to ever mention i had a tumblr) it was over... saying a character was attractive? a character that wasn't even a kid! it was a woman in her sixties! some said that the logic was that the character was too old for me, others said that it was problematic to self-ship at all. 

so it not only seems that there's an Unspoken Set of Rules in popular fandoms, everyone's Rule-Book is different from others, and you'll never know in what ways until you've already gotten them mad.
