Is everyone a bigot?

TW: bigotry obviously

Making friends is literally so hard because tell me why I've just gone through months of getting to know someone and then one day they just think it's funny to do a Hitler solute... Like literally do not talk to me. Sometimes I worry that I'll never make any friends ever because I have the crazy high standards of someone not being a Neo Nazi. People will say the n slur and I'll try and tell them that's not ok but then they just think I'm joking, no one will takes me seriously and I want to scream because these are serious things we're talking about here! I don't want to try and convince everyone that bigotry is bad, why can't they just know :( how hard is it? Like that's a genuine question, I wouldn't call my parents hard core conservative but like they're afraid to say gay, love Jesus and have voted to reelect not very good local politicians just because they're afraid of change so I definitely wouldn't call them liberals either. Even with those kinds of parents and growing up in a red state I turned out the way I am (very far left) and I can't really pin point why, like I have a close friends whose mom is kind of left leaning which is the best I can come up with. I just read books and realized, hey maybe there are lots of kinds of people and they all are bringing joy of some sort to at least one person, even if that's just themselves, and maybe that's all that's really necessary and maybe we should just try and love as much as we can in this life.

I feel like I relate everything back to making friends which might be a bad habit of  mine, what can I say I'm 15 and making friends is really important to me.

Making friends as a leftist sure is difficult. But don't lose hope. From my experience, friends just randomly appear in your life. My friends are definitely not leftists, most enjoy the privilege of not caring about these things, and my other friend is pro constitutional monarchy (we're from Slovakia).

Sure, making friends is important, but meeting people, especially if you are introverted, is a HUGE lottery

Definitely not everyone is a bigot, but there's a lot horrible people out there. If you're from a red state it's gonna be hard to find someone whose not since bigotry is mostly taught. Just don't give up on people - if you do, you will just be bitter and assume everyone is bad. I go to class with 28 other people, every single one (maybe not 2 people tho) is racist or antisemite, just a bigot of some kind, but I have friends outside of my class, so there's good people out there, just gotta look for them.

I'm trying not to give up on people but I don't even live in a red state anymore and it's like this!
