Book Review - Everything I Never Told You - Celeste Ng

Everything I Never Told You - Celeste Ng

What to Expect: It's a very well written historical fiction with deep characters. Celeste Ng shows a deep understanding of the relationships of her characters and writes in a way that you wouldn't even think possible. It feels like you're right there with them. Your heart is gonna hurt. You're going to really want to like the characters but you can't, and it will probably make you feel better about your own life because it's just sad. There is a lot of stuff about being Chinese American in here, but I'm white, so I have no clue if it is accurate or realistic. One thing I really enjoy is the comparison of ways that you can be different than others and feel like you're the only person in the world who is different yet you have other people in your life who feel the same way.

My Thoughts:  When I was reading, I held my boyfriend's hand a few times because I was just like "Oh... yeah I'm glad my relationship isn't like this." I read it in two days, and I was happy that the exposition wasn't boring. I've been having good luck with that recently!

Vibes: This book gives me a damp, sad feeling. If you love feeling sad for characters, mother daughter relationships, psychology, or even just drama, this book is definitely for you. Be warned though! You might cry!
