There is kindness in the world still.

Recently I broke my toe. 

As in recently I mean 

Yesterday lol. 

Anyway, I had to go to work today with said broken toe, being where it is and it being I have no insurance there's not really much that can be done other than for me to literally walk it off. Alot of people took notice of my limp. And the majority of them asked why. When I told them some said "been there before" "ouch!" "Which toe ?" But... Most said 

"I'm so sorry that happened!" Now I bet you're thinking "ok ...and?" Because most people under the premise of not being a dick would say something like that....

And you're right .....

But I think with the current state of the Internet, the statement 

 "people don't have empathy anymore" 

Has been thrown around a lot.

Which yes..... If all you interact with in your day to day is the Internet. Then that statement would be true...

Hell we even see this in our news here in the US 

Our own president clearly not only lacks empathy, but appears to be downright sociopathic. 

But I don't want to get political back to what I was saying. 

Closer to when I was going to close 

A woman came in 

One I'd never met before. 

When I told her about my foot she was extremely empathetic to me. She said she'd broke the same toe a few years back. 

She asked what shoe size I was , I told her and she said she would try and find the boot they put her in when she broke the same toe. 

Again, I've never met this woman. And I've worked in that same store for almost four years now. 

So it came as a shock. 

But then after she left I thought about it more.

This is community. Even though I'm not directly involved in my local community. This is what it was. This was empathy for another human 

To such a degree that you'd be willing to go out of your way to help them. 

And yknow sure.... Maybe the whole southern hospitality thing has went to my head, and people are only kind so they look good....

But I don't believe that....

Take this as a reminder, that there are still empathetic people in the world, more than willing to help you .... Even if you didn't ask for help.
