i can mention one thing now

Last blog I said there were a couple of irons in the fire that I couldn't discuss. Now I can talk about one of them at least.

It's already blowing up on Facebook and Instagram!

The metal band Apathy asked me to contribute a guitar solo to one of their songs for their upcoming Ep (due out June 21). I did a show with them with my own trio back in July 2022 at Metalfest 7. We hit it off well. So much so, that when the singer asked me "Hey you do session work?" and I said yes, he sent me a rough mix of the new song. (I'm not saying the title for now.)

Once I heard it, I already had ideas in my head. So with those in mind, they asked me to come to their studio last Sunday. I expected to do a couple of takes, get paid, and leave. Nope. I did SIXTEEN guitar solos. No joke. They will pick and choose various parts and fuse them together in Pro Tools. But it will still be me 200%, no AI bullshit.

This song is in vein of Priest/Slayer, which is up my alley. I pulled out any crazy lick I could think of, and the band asked me for more! I never want to overstep my boundaries but they encouraged me to pile it on. There's videos on my website if you wish to see and hear me play two of the solos at least.

This was definitely a lot of fun, got to exorcise whatever 14-year-old angst was left inside. 

Another band asked me to do a solo on their Ep but again, not saying anything until it's finalized.

Could session work be my new path, along with teaching?
