A few days ago, I got back from a trip to Australia, and it was an awesome experience!! In a way, I felt almost right at home, since parts of it reminded me a lot of my home in SoCal (the parts we visited anyway - eastern Tasmania and Sydney).
Starting with Tasmania, which was a truly gorgeous place to behold. We stayed in Hobart and Launceston, and road tripped all up and down the east coast. Hobart reminded me so much of Old Town Pasadena, near where I grew up. We visited the Salamanca Market, I got a shitload of nougat and a beautiful moon pendant. I think the highlight of Tasmania was when we visited Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and fed kangaroos :)
After that, it was off to Sydney - which, though it was beautiful, was also kind of overwhelming. I generally don't like visiting big bustling cities like Manhattan or Las Vegas...I even hate going to Downtown LA. Despite the busyness, though, Sydney was a sight to behold. We crossed Pyrmont bridge almost every day to explore, saw big glittering buildings, and got a lot of steps in. (Also, weirdly, saw a bunch of old timey ships in the harbor, and also a few in Hobart). We also visited Bondi Beach, whose beauty puts our beaches in LA to shame. The water was so clear and clean and the sand was so fine, it was almost like running my hands through brown sugar.
My favorite part of the trip has to be a toss-up between Bonorong and Bondi Beach. I'm so grateful I've been able to go on this trip, and that I've been able to travel around in the past as well. Can't wait for the next one!!
