Broken vs. Damaged (the Video)

(5/31/2016) One of my first attempts at applying semantics into a semi-deep-dive essay on what words, definitions and semantics actually mean. Words matter—not just in how we speak to others, but how we speak to ourselves. There is a subtle yet, vital difference between being [broken] and being [damaged,] and what that difference means in the context of addiction, fear, and self-worth. When someone says they’re [broken,] is that a cry for truth to the idea that [damaged] things can be repaired, while [broken] things cannot conceptually?

Peel back language to describe the human condition. From addiction to behavior, from emotional trauma to philosophical reflection, this is not about surface-level self-help—it’s about confronting the ways we lie to ourselves, the comforts we cling to, the fear we let drive us and sometimes how we use words and phrases is not the exact definition or context those words and phrases actually hold. What do we [want,] and what do we [need?] How does the distinction shape our lives, our relationships, and our capacity for change?
