The rest of the series was an improvement from the first book, but not by a lot. I did not really enjoy this series or its characters (contrary to my experience with Marie Lu's characters in her other works). Rebel was interesting in its difference from the rest of the series; I liked it a bit better although it was a bit slower/less engaging (at least at first). I appreciated the ending, and especially enjoyed being done reading this series.

Series Review

I didn't like this series or enjoy it almost at all. I would recommend it to people who enjoy the common tropes present, and the rather heavy-handed romance, if they have excess time on their hands and have read all of the better books I have suggested. It's not necessarily bad, but I thought it certainly wasn't good (an opinion I seem to be alone in, considering the reviews everywhere else). Hot take: this is probably Marie Lu's worst series.
