♡ second life diary #1: introduction

  welcum toooo my first second life blog entry, hope you enjoy ur time here lawl.

this first entry is more of an introduction to what second life is, yk? just cuz ik some peoples may not know what it is, whichhhh is understandable.

second life is a multiplayer virtual world where players can create their own avis, worlds, accessories, etc. everything there is made by players for players. kinda like the grandmother of vrchat, ig. second life was launched in 2003 under linden labs, spawning a very large playerbase in 2013 that has since dwindled off in recent years, especially since 2017. even then, there's still many ppl who continue to use second life, even over 20 years l8tr. please be aware tho that a lot of the playerbase are adults and there is some adult content in parts of second life, so keep ur range at general to moderate.

i started in 2024, but couldn't rlly understand it and just dropped it bc i had no idea how to do anything :P second life is a bit confusing at first with its ui and character creation, but i was able to figure it out when i picked it up again a couple months ago. i personally enjoy second life bc i am a MAAAAJOOOR sucker for super old multiplayer games. i luv the rudimentary graphics some worlds have there and also just the visuals that make it feel like a digital time capsule.

i will say, there are still summmm issues. i sometimes liek to look thru old forum posts or blogs that suggest some areas for me to explore in second life, but they usually end up being gone, privated, or relocated. kinda makes me bummed. another thing is that the second life viewer sucks ASS. it crashes a lot and is way more laggy. i personally recommend using alchemy or firestorm. alchemy is good for newbies just cuz the graphics are less laggy + it starts with wasd controls. once u get the hang of it, go ahead and update to firestorm, it has much more customization and kewler graphix.

noooow abt my experiences on the game .......... ngl, everything is pretty empty. tho i like that, lawl. i enjoy exploring worlds by myself and just seeing what i can find on my own. ya, i've been in more populated worlds and talked to a few ppl, but that's not rlly smth i seek out. 

i luuuuuuuuuuv taking pics in worlds i find fun. i'll likely post some of my photo dumps in the future in their own seperate blog posts. at the moment, my main avi is coroja, a weird anime girl salmon amalgamation that emerged from the ocean one day. i luv her sm, and i always have lots of fun taking pics of her and doing fun poses. ^_^

i will prolly make a guide on how i made my avi and what u should get in the future .. just know that u will need to spend some money on certain things, but the conversion rate is pretty small compared to stuff like roblox or imvu. imo, all u rlly need to spend money on is a head and a body. i got the ebody and cherry head, which cost $13 in total i think? idk lawl, but u can find basically anything else for freeeee :P
