How to make GOOD instant coffee! [SAY NO TO OVERPRICED COFFEES!!]

So there I was; yearning for a delicious coffee, but nothing I made with the keurig met my taste- and the only coffees I'd be excited to drink would be one of those lattes that are $6~7 per drink. Until now.. now, I've got a recipe to make a delicious iced coffee that tastes just as good, at a total fraction of the price!

The main ingredients you'll need are,

  • Instant coffee grounds
  • Brown sugar
  • Water+Ice
  • Milk and/or half&half
For coffee grounds I've tried Folgers and Nescafe, and both work fine. Folgers' grounds are turned into dissolvable crystals and are pretty strong- meanwhile Nescafe's grounds are very fine, and the taste is a bit smoother. Both taste good imo :]

Onto the recipe!
  • One teaspoon of coffee grounds + brown sugar into a cup
  • Add two teaspoons of water
  • Either stir vigorously, or use a hand frother. With a frother, the two teaspoons of water will whisk the coffee and sugar into a whipped-like consistency.
  • Add ice
  • Pour in your choice of milk, and a little bit of half+half.
  • Stir well before drinking, and enjoy!
An optional thing I like to add are syrups, or a dessert sauce. For regular syrups (Like a vanilla coffee syrup,) I just add it last and mix it in. But with the sauce (Caramel sauce for example,) I get a little fancy with it ;P After I whip the coffee, sugar, & water, I rotate my cup around and drip the sauce onto the sides of the glass. Then add my ice, and milk. Would work well with chocolate sauce for an iced mocha too!

Feel free to experiment and add different ratios of coffee grounds, sugar, ice and milk to perfect it to taste! Happy coffee-making ♡!

Whoa thanks for the advice. I already trick my guests into thinking I've made coffee when I'm actually just giving them instant Folgers, can't wait to try this on em. Gotta get milk first though xD
