Hi hi!!1!! Here's a poem I wrote awhile ago (last semester actually) for my English class. I really liked this assignment, I think my English teacher called it a circle poem?? Basically the last word of each line starts off the next one. Also also only 32 weekdays left till summer vacation!! [very simplified context for the poem, when I was 5 my mom had a stroke and I've been taking care of her ever since]
Daughter and Mother
I am a daughter who constantly takes care of her mother.Mother is still a mother, but a daughter is no longer a daughter.
Daughter who wants to give back to her mother's sacrifices.
Sacrificing my dreams to grow into nothing but a provider.
Providing or feeling a paintbrush glide smoothly against the canvas like a skater on ice.
Ice melting into guilt of wanting more than to be mother’s caretaker.
Caretaking for my only parent, a whole life, costing mine and more.
More things need to be done, and more dreams are developing without a mother.
Mother, who only knows what her mother raised her and how her condition limits her.
Her health, well-being, and happiness go first before all.
All I ever wanted was to have a mother and be cared for.
For me to hear soft words of comfort, feel loved, and be held by her arms.
Arms of a mother who constantly grabs onto mine, my childhood, my thoughts, my soul, and all.
All I do is provide the best care for her and have my existence defined by her and nothing else.
Else does not matter, the significant thing is my being as her daughter.
