Last night was one of the best nights ever! I got to attend Emo Prom!! It truly was a memorable night and the energy was totally buzzing.
The venue was a tower in an old building, you had to climb a long winding staircase until you made it to the top, and the room was an older style room with a big ornate glass window behind the stage, at the beginning I had to wear my sunglasses because the sun kept shining right into the crowd- but as soon at the sun fell down it was SOOOO cool!! The bands were all local ones, I've seen a few before but there was one I hadn't seen before since they played limited performances.. unfortunately last night was their last one.

You should check out some of their music, I really recommend Nellie Bly! They opened up the show and absolutely killed it. I was able to get a setlist from them after they finished performing and they were kind enough to autograph it for me too. Later they ended up DM-ing me online and gave me some neat merch and a CD for their new EP 'Unfamiliarity' which I've been listening to while writing this. There was also Bats Outta Hell, which won Emo Prom Court lol, they gave the guitarist a nice sparkly tiara.

Drive, Victoria was next and they were my second favorite show of the night, they had a great setlist with Pierce the Veil, Deftones, and My Chemical Romance covers! They even set off some confetti cannons during the ending of Helena. They were upfront and interactive with us at the front of the stage too, I got so close to alot of the musicians throughout the night- I think it was absolutely AWESOME being able to get that close to someone while their singing or riffing. And we finished it off with Go in Style's final show, with a HUGE moshpit and the singer crowdsurfing

I brought my digital camera to document everything- I truly wanted to feel in the moment and enjoy the shows like we did 20 years ago. No phones, just purely in the moment and taking low quality pictures and videos with the limited storage that was offered. I think it was great honestly, I felt present during all the shows and was able to give the bands my full attention and energy, really I didn't see any phones at all... and a LOT of digital cameras LOLZ. Even the event coordinators, a local independent radio station, had a digital camera they were passing around so everyone could snap some photos with it. They mentioned wanting to upload them at a later date so I'm excited to see them when they do get sent out! The show was even more popular than anticipated and they had to set a capacity limit- the organizers literally sent down a speaker to the bottom of the staircase so the people who couldn't make it in would still be able to enjoy the music which was a sweet idea on their behalf! Anyways I think its time for a nice photo dump and show off the amazing talents of these incredible bands

Heres the Nellie Bly merch I got- and the autographed setlist !! I was so excited when they asked if I wanted it signed- they're my favorite local scene band and it was an honor to get this signed and a bunch of sick merch!!
Overall an incredible experience- Drive, Victoria actually reached out as I was making this to ask for some of the footage I took! If there was a way for me to code the mp4's onto here, I'd share them with you guys however idk if thats realistically doable so my apologies. If you check out my instagram there is some clips on my latest post for those who are curious!
