i've been listening to TV Girl for a long time, and i'm a big fan of their albums Who Really Cares and French Exit. I also have listened to George Clanton before - his album virtua.zip, which was released under his alternate name ESPRIT, is a great vaporwave album.
i was surprised by their collaboration, but at the same time, it makes sense. they have very similar vibes. however, their music blends together pretty well. their under-breath voices and the signature production are apparent. the riding synths of Clanton and the hypnotic samples of TV Girl are here.
some stand-out parts, like the backgrounds of Everything Blue and Butterflies and the vocals of the title track, Fauxllennium, are highlights in an otherwise already pretty good album. Jordana's appearance on Butterflies is so pretty. Jordana and TV Girl previously collaborated for the album Summer's Over. Jordana's voice is just so perfect over Butterflies' background audio.
it is a pretty fun album all things considered. the best part is for sure the background. you're constantly riding on synths and melodies you can only find from either of these two artists.
the album is a candy party all on its own. exuberant, colorful, and never-ending. most TV Girl albums benefit from soulless but meaningful vocals, but this album is different. production from Clanton just adds a lot. to be honest, Clanton kinda brings the album a lot of life, and kinda makes the project more enjoyable. very pretty album regardless though, and great effort from both parties.
