a love letter to ads.. NOT!

Ads are so stupid once you think about it for a minute. Like sometimes I get the most braindead advertisement and I think about how a bunch of people in a random office somewhere in suits with a business degree had to have a bajillion meetings sweating about what catchphrase they should use so more #young people 😜 would buy it (a.k.a use the word epic or throw in a social media hashtag) or how to make your mouthwash company's branding more appealing to the elderly or hiring a bunch of psychologists so they can engineer the most effective advertisement for a dog food company. No offense to people that have to work at jobs like that but I think I would literally go insane. Also do these ads even work on people? I guess even if you intentionally avoid stuff marketed to you it can still make a home in your subconscious mind.

I don't know I guess I might be depressed or something as I don't see a point in anything really (though some things more than others)

Also I love how the random some scam ads on SpaceHey are. Like you really think this websites demographic consists of people frequenting luxury spas and hotel in Dubai? lmao

this is so true- I mean idk how people in marketing do it, I would feel so guilty encouraging people to buy stuff they don't need

Yeah and it's crazy how many jobs revolve around selling you shit you don't need or even like T_T Sometimes I feel like a crazy person when I think about it for too long lol

Yeah, and am I the only one who thinks streaming is kind of unreliable long term ? Like you pay to watch stuff, get attached to it, and someday the platform can just take your favorite content away like that ?? I mean if my favorite show gets removed for Netflix I WILL cry (°_°') (hope I didn't yap too much here lol)

Nah, I think so too. The fact that the streaming platforms can just evaporate a show from their platform and you'll never see it again is absurd. Also, I'm not paying for any but the prices are INSANE? especially if your country has a weaker currency (i don't get how people have more than 2 streaming platforms at a time). And I feel like you like the shows less because you can watch it at any time and have it available, I remember how I looked forward to my mother recording a certain movie or something when I was younger and now I need to find "the right time" to watch something which barely ever comes, even when I'm not busy. And don't even get me started on literal streaming platform CEO's telling showmakers to make "second screen content" WTF

And don't worry, I'm a yapper too (clearly lol). I love yappers!

Yeah I get the whole "looking forward to stuff" thing that streaming took away, though I think they're bringing that back a little by releasing episodes of certain shows once or twice a week instead of just the whole season. And also I also think sometimes people just need to immerse into a piece of media, so there are ups to releasing big quantities at one ig ??? Idk, that's such a multifaceted question. And also before you brought it up I didn't know what second screen content was so I looked it up and WTF THAT'S SO DYSTOPIAN ??? Wdym you want people to be able to watch something else along with your content ??? Isn't the entire point of making something making it so interesting that people actually focus on it bc it's good ??? Content has killed art to such a huge extent.

Happy that I found a fellow yapper lol this is great :)

Yeah, I agree that it's a multifaceted thing, I myself typically read something/watch something when it's fully completed because I don't want to magically find out that it's going on a hiatus or the season 2 is cancelled or something. And yeah, I especially don't get the second screen content because a movie or show is SUCH a visual thing. Like? If you're not paying attention/fully engaging in it you will miss so much stuff, what's the point of seeing it? Unless you've seen a show multiple times where you know what will happen and you just like the comfort, but also it's second SCREEN, so the people are just scrolling on the phone or something? What's the point? I get watching stuff you've seen before and doing another task along with it like drawing or doing chores but I don't understand doing that with new stuff and most people aren't doing that. But all of that basically doesn't matter to streaming platforms, because the point of them was never to show art but to profit off it. Cool new stuff still comes out but it seems like movies have more and more corporate junk, like why in the past 3 years have there been 1 billion branded movies? and movies being sequels/whatever part of some previously popular IP? Can't we have some new stuff? I know it's not the writers fault, but the bosses/management of popular film studios.

It sucks that a lot of people don't value art but only the money they can get from it.

For real- like how about we stop making sequels and reboots and start being creative a little ? I guess artistry is too risky bc it doesn't always make money, and the economy isn't too great worldwide I feel so yeah-
